‘Work Later, Drink Now’: Super Junior’s Siwon returns to acting with K-drama
Choi Siwon is back as an actor with the much-awaited K-drama ‘Work Later, Drink Now’. The Super Junior member has made a name as a K-pop idol, as well as an actor. Not only does he have several K-drama acting credits, but he has also been cast in popular movies and Chinese projects like the Hong Kong movie ‘A Battle Of Wits’ where he played the lead role of Prince Shi of Liang. It also happened to be his debut on the big screen.
After the Super Junior star finished his military enlistment he has only starred in the dramas ‘Revolutionary Love’ and ‘My Fellow Citizens!’ He did have a guest appearance in the Korean version of ‘Black Mirror’ with the anthology series ‘SF8’ in 2020, but that has been it. Instead, he has been focusing on his activities as UNICEF’s ambassador. Siwon hasn’t had a main role in three years and so fans are excited for his comeback in 2021.

Idol actors in 'Work Later, Drink Now'
TVING has roped in Siwon as the male protagonist in ‘Work Later, Drink Now’. Along with the Super Junior member, we also have more idol actors in the show. The web drama is about three working women who are single and in their 30s. They come to the conclusion that one should have at least one drink at the end of every day. Writer Ahn So-hee is played by former K-pop idol Lee Sun-bin. She was part of the second-gen girl group JQT.
Yoga instructor Han Ji-yeon is played by Han Sun-hwa. While the TV personality is now known for her variety show appearances and K-dramas, Sun-hwa was also an idol in the leading girl group Secret that disbanded in 2018. And Origami YouTuber Kang Ji-goo is played by none other than Eunji. Like Siwon, she is an idol actor who is still part of the active group Apink and has continued to expand her acting career.
Siwon plays Kang Book-goo, a naive and easily-shocked production director who works with So-hee and hangs out with the three women. And ELFs (Super Junior’s fandom) are excited for the return of actor Siwon. One fan tweeted, “Can't wait to be octobre 22, this kdrama is gonna be so amazing and my god I love actor Siwon so much!!” Another added, “I'm so excited for actor siwon comeback.” One commented, “I'm so proud of Siwon really for doing these crazy roles without a care for his image. Like he could just do main lead roles where he just looks pretty or do action but nope, he digs into these fun roles and nails them so well. There shd be a category for his kind of actor, lol.”
