KYOTO, JAPAN: In a technologically advanced world where humans and robots coexist, Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones) avoids being around robots.

In Apple TV+'s 'Sunny', Suzie believes a self-driving car caused her mother's death. Consequently, when Imatech compensates her with a domestic robot after her husband goes missing, she keeps her distance from it.

As she learns more about her husband's electronics company, her suspicions about robots deepen.

What does Suzie Sakamoto learn about robots in Apple TV+'s 'Sunny'?

In Episode 1 of 'Sunny', Suzie visits a bar where she gets into a candid conversation with a new bartender named Mixxy (Annie the Clumsy).

Mixxy says that she uses her home robot for physical intimacy. As Suzie wonders if it is even possible, Mixxy reveals that their codes can be hacked using a guide to make them do whatever they want.

However, Mixxy adds that she doesn't trust robots because they are capable of causing harm, even death. She mentions a recent case where a politician died after falling down a flight of stairs and a robot was involved.

Fearing that Sunny could also be dangerous, Suzie puts it on sleep mode, wraps him up, and tries to throw it into a river. However, due to Sunny's weight, she leaves him on the bridge and returns home alone.

When she wakes up the next morning, Suzie finds Sunny mysteriously back in her house.

As Suzie prepares to attack Sunny, it makes a kiss gesture that Suzie's husband Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) used to do. This gesture touches her heart, and she finally decides to let Sunny stay as her companion.

Suzie is suspicious of the activities at Imatech. She sneaks into a restricted area called 'Sakomoto Incubator,' where she finds a couple of dogs in a yellow room.

The blood stains in the room startle Suzie, leading her to conclude that something terrible must have happened there.

In Episode 2, she teams up with Sunny to break into Imatech's office once again. During her second visit, she notices that the blood stains have been washed off.

While Suzie remains unaware, viewers glimpse that a man died in that yellow room before Masa's disappearance, and Imatech's staff covered up the incident.

Masa grabbed a cloth and hid something (probably Sunny), saying that it must remain in darkness.

At this point, it appears that Sunny may have been involved in the killing due to malfunctioning. The ten-episodic series may touch upon the subject of the dangers of technology and AI using dark humor and mystery.

'Sunny' Episodes 1 and 2 are now available to stream on Apple TV+.
