'Succession' Season 2 Episode 5 promo sees Logan Roy pressed to name the heir to Waystar Royco
'Succession' season 2 episode 5 will see if Logan Roy, the founder of Waystar Royco, will finally say the name of the heir to his company out loud. In the upcoming episode, we will see the Roy family come to terms with the fact that Logan is dead set on acquiring PGM, owned by the Pierce family.
By the looks of the trailer, Logan even goes to the extent of setting up a meeting with the Pierce family at their own 'Tern Haven' where the Roys would spend the day. It looks like Logan's time with Reya in the panic room helped him set up the meeting, but what would be interesting to watch out for is how these two families that own two different kinds of news outlets socialize, especially, when one of them is putting a price on the other.
Logan and his family's politics is not something the Pierce family agrees with and we saw in the previous episodes that Waystar Royco's ATN and PGM are in direct contrast to one another in terms of the kind of news they do and their political alignments. The Roys lean more towards the right and one of them is even hoping to contest in the presidential elections as a Republican.
The Pierce family wants everyone to believe they are producing news that the world needs, not wants. However, it looks like their political leaning is towards the other side of the spectrum because we saw Reya explicitly say so in the previous episode. So the socializing has potential to turn out awkward.
We also see one of the Pierce family members push Logan for an answer about who his heir would be. When it looks like Logan might not answer her question, she goes as far as to say "whisper it in my ear" in the promo that was released by HBO, because she is that keen to know the direction Waystar Royco will take in the future.
So will he finally name Shiv as his heir or did he sway towards Kendall, his son who has been trained since the beginning for the job? Shiv looks pretty angry in one of the scenes in the promo and Logan's answer regarding his heir might just be the reason.
'Succession' Season 2 Episode 5 will air Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
