'Stumptown' premiered on ABC and the response has been overwhelming with many fans already invested in the characters, especially Cobie Smulders' Dex. In the show, we see that Dex is a veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an alcohol problem, and gambling addiction.  The bisexual character also seemingly uses sex to avoid dealing with a lot of her problems.

In the very first episode, we see that she has sex with Detective Miles Hoffman (Michael Ealy), her contact at the Portland Police Bureau, and from the looks of it, they are going to become friends with benefits. Their chemistry is evident to everyone around them including Dex's best friend Grey (Jake Johnson), who also happens to own the bar in which her brother Ansel (Cole Sibus) works.

Grey seemed very displeased the arrival of Grey, and we can only assume that he is not happy with Dex's new friend. He also seems to have many misgivings about Dex becoming a private investigator, which probably has more to do with him worrying about her safety than anything else.

However, it has been established in the very first episode that their dynamic is very complicated and knowing now what we do about Dex's sexual patterns we cannot help but wonder if they have had a sexual past as well. We know that he is one of the few people she seems to trust, especially with her brother, but based on the official summary for the episode the true nature of their past will be explored when the show returns with Episode 2, titled 'Missed Connections'.

In the episode, we will also see Dex working on a case as an apprentice at an established PI's office to get her PI license in Oregon. She has found a purpose in life with the prospective job as a PI and is willing to go to great lengths to become one. It is quite inspiring to see her chase this dream, but the pushback happens when Grey is somehow found to be linked with a woman's murder.

Will Dex be able to prove Grey's innocence? Find out when 'Stumptown' airs on October 2.
