Sowon assures fans of her loyalty towards GFriend, says: 'Why should I debut when I have a group'

Both Sowon and SinB had earlier revealed that the members didn't know GFriend was going to be disbanded suddenly

GFriend’s fandom just might turn out to be the luckiest. The girl group’s disbandment story was extremely tragic as GFriend was suddenly let go by their label Source Music. However, we had three of the members re-debuting as Viviz, while the rest like Yuju are making debuts as soloists or actors like Yerin. Leader Sowon has signed with IOK Company as actress Kim Sojung. However, she and the rest of GFriend have time and again assured fans that despite going their own ways, they are still a group and may reunite in the future.

We first had SinB sharing that GFriend’s disbandment was extremely sudden and that they didn’t want to disband in the first place. She revealed that their last month together as a group was filled with tears. She also explained that Viviz did not have a leader as Sowon would always be a leader for them. While competing on the survival show ‘Queendom 2’, the rest of GFriend has been supporting Viviz as they performed a heart-rending tribute to their previous group in round 1. And now we have Sowon saying that she still sees herself as part of GFriend.

Sowon shares she will not make a solo debut

While fans are happy and supportive of the members’ new and individual journeys, they were shocked when Sowon confirmed that Source Music disbanded GFriend without telling the girls. And so when a fan asked her about her solo debut as a singer, she had the perfect response. Sowon said, “Am I not debuting as a singer?! Yes. I'll do a comeback instead of a debut. Why should I debut when I have a group~!~! Right, I'm already a singer.”

While fans are excited for her upcoming drama and future comeback as a singer, they also were touched by the way she constantly sees GFriend as one. In fact, a day later, on April 27, she met SinB and Umji.

‘The best leader’

One fan tweeted, “Sowon and her confidence about gfriend coming back. she really gonna be the one who'll bring them together again. will wait no matter how long it takes.” Another Buddy commented, “Sowon said "Am I not going to debut as a singer? I'll make a comeback, not a debut. Why debut when there's a distant group. She really said that, she don't like solo MANIFESTING GFRIEND WILL COME BACK AS A WHOLE GROUP SOON.”

One fan shared, “I love sowon so much, literally the best leader.” However, one Buddy pointed out, “I think it might be a long-running joke, but its time to stop saying “Sowon, Yerin, Yuju?👀” each time you see bpm with a new artist post. I want that reunion as much as the next buddy. But they are happy in their own companies, and we should respect that.”
