'Singletown': Release date, plot, cast, hosts, trailer and all you need to know about HBO Max's unscripted experimental dating show

Five couples will take a break from each other to pursue hot dates with other people and then make a decision if they'd reunite with the ex or hop on to the next

Dating show formats have evolved over the years and here comes another one with a fresh new concept. 'Singletown' is about to see five couples, all in different stages in their relationships put things to the test. Putting a pause on their existing relationships, they move to London to pursue a life full of parties and hot dates with their exes being able to see all the new developments happening. After considering all the options, the couple then needs to decide if they'd reunite with the ex or hop on to the next. Here's all you need to know about this unscripted show. 

Release date

'Singletown' will premiere on Thursday, August 20. All of the 15 episodes from the series will drop together and will be available to stream only on HBO Max. 

Plot 

According to a press release by WarnerMedia, "'Singletown' begins with a unique ending as five couples press pause on their relationships and spend one incredible summer living their best single lives in the city. The newly separated couples and their four new flatmates move into two luxury 'Singletown' apartments, which, to their surprise, are located in the same building and come with a celebrity mentor. Supported by their mentor’s matchmaking skills, the singletons embark on an indulgent summer full of money-can’t-buy exclusive dates, out of this world parties and unforgettable experiences. At the end of each week, the couples meet to take part in the Love Locket ceremony. Will they choose to reunite and leave the show as a couple or will one, or both of them, choose to stay single and remain in 'Singletown'?"

Cast

Claudia, 21 and Rob, 23 from Surrey

According to Radio Times, the two were best friends before they decided that they'd like to add the romance element to their dynamic. They've been together for three years and both want something out of their time on 'Singletown'. Claudia wants to know how it'd be to live life as a single woman since she's never been able to figure that out as she has always been in relationships. Rob on the other end wants to experience how it'd feel to see Claudia around other men, enjoying their attention. At the same time, he is also very keen on spending more time with the boys.

Sophie, 18 and George, 21 from Birmingham

George is ready to pop the question to Sophie, an aspiring Army medic. However, the latter feels smothered by George and would appreciate some space while George too does miss his old playboy lifestyle.

Selin, 21 and Jeremiah, 23, from Chelmsford

The couple has been together for seven long years and their relationship has endured several ups and downs. Jeremiah has broken up with Selin on multiple occasions in the past and the latter is worried that Jeremiah is with him only because she fears the single and alone life.

Natasha, 24, and Luke, 29 from the West Midlands

Natasha and Luke have been at a crossroads in their two-year-old relationship. While Natasha is ready to walk down the aisle and settle, Luke is still unsure about his thoughts regarding such a big commitment. 

Charlie, 23, and Elliott, 25, from High Wycombe

Charlie and Elliot started dating after the latter slid into the former's DMS. Trouble started when Charlie came out as gay and had to move in with Elliot in his family home.  have had a difficult romance, with Elliot sliding into Charlie’s DMs five years ago – which saw Charlie coming out as gay and moving into Elliot’s family home after seven months. Their relationship was further strained after Elliot's mother died and the pair were now left in charge of taking care of the house and pay the bills and they constantly questioned their relationship and wondered if they were better off as friends.

Hosts

Emily Atack

Atack is an English actress who rose to fame after she appeared on the award-winning series, 'The Inbetweeners'. She essayed the character of Charlotte Hinchcliffe, the love interest of Simon Bird’s Will McKenzie from 2008 to 2010. Atack has also appeared in the remake of 'Dad's Army' opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and Bill Nigh. Some of her television projects include 'Rock and Chips', 'Little Crackers', 'The Keith Lemon Sketch Show' and 'The Tracey Ullman Show'

Joel Dommett

Before making it on television, Dommett enjoyed a career performing stand-up comedy. He then went ahead to star on British teen drama 'Skins' as DC Sweeney and in Charlie Brooker's 'Popatron' after which became rose to prominence on the small screen. Since then he has gone ahead to appear on a number of TV shows including 'Live in Chelsea', 'Impractical Jokers', 'Bring the Noise', and the 16th series of 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' He's also taking part in the upcoming season of 'The Great British Bake Off'.

The trailer sees the five couples go their separate ways to test the waters and weigh all of their options as far as dating life is concerned.
