SHINee Onew announces April comeback with his second mini-album 'Dice'

Onew, the leader of second-gen boy group, SHINee announced his comeback that releases 3 years and 4 months after his debut album’

With SHINee’s maknae, Taemin only eight months away from his military discharge, the second-gen boy group’s leader finds it is best to make a comeback that fans have been waiting to see. Onew (aka Lee Jin-ki) made his solo debut back in the year 2018 with his first mini-album, ‘Voice’ (stylized as VOICE) and now after having fans wait on his military enlistment followed by his discharge, Onew is finally making a comeback.

The four members of SHINee had been complete for a while as the boys grouped together to release their 10th and 11th mini-albums titled, ‘Don’t Call Me’ and ‘Atlantis’ back in 2021 ahead of Taemin, who was the only remaining member of the boy group to complete his military enlistment. The group comeback followed with solo gigs for Taemin who released ‘Advice’ ahead of his May 2021 enlistment.

Onew announces his solo comeback

Putting his three-year and four-month-long solo hiatus to an end, Onew has now announced the release of his second mini-album ‘Dice’ which drops in 13 days. On March 29, Onew finally revealed his first-ever solo comeback following his 2018 solo debut. It is stated that Onew will release ‘Dice’ on April 11 which is the singer’s second solo album that consists of six songs with ‘Dice’ as its lead single.

While Onew was not set on a solo comeback, the singer was seen participating in OSTs for many K-drama’s like ‘You Are My Spring’, ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’ ‘High Class’ among others at the same time also making appearances in several musicals including the 2021 and 2022 shows for ‘Midnight Sun’.

Shinee members’ solo activities

Taemin’s solo comeback was followed by Key’s ‘Bad Love’ which was released in September 2021 and finally Minho who released his non-album single, ‘Heartbreak’ in December 2021 and is currently booked and busy with many acting gigs. All this leaves Onew, the oldest SHINee member with no comeback which made fans wonder why the singer chose to stay on a long hiatus. With the release of Onew’s ‘Dice’, all members of SHINee will prepare for Taemin’s return which will mark the end of the boy group’s ‘military era’.

One fan cheered Onew on saying, “I can’t believe I’ve pre-ordered this much of quantity… Lee Jinki onew cheers for a successful comeback!” Another fan said, “Why all the leaders are making a solo comeback on the same month??? Onew, Sungkyu, Suho.” One fan said, “Last year Sign was he first ever soloist performance, now over a year later he's finally having his first comeback we have waited for so long, but it was worthy bc Jink #ONEW put all his hardest work and care into the new album.”

One fan said, “It’s my first Onew comeback y’all,” and another responded, “It's like everyone's First Comeback of Onew including ONEW HIMSELF.” One fan said, “Indeed ‘Incomparable voice’ Let's go Lee Jinki! I hope all the best for your first solo comeback.” A fan simply wished, “But my current wish is for Onew to have a blast this comeback hahahaha is it too simple?”
