'Shark Tank': Why does Tandem Boogie bodyboard cost $459? Clarks justify price as viewers say it's 'expensive'
The Clark family managed to impress not only the Sharks but also fans with their pitch for Tandem Boogie bodyboard. The USP of the unique bodyboard was the ability to allow two people to enjoy their favorite water sport on one board at the same time.
The five-member family's pitch left the Sharks very impressed although their company was still very young, having been established in only 2020. John and Manya Clark came into the tank seeking $100K for 10%. But true to their motto of "two is better than one" the family managed to reel in two sharks, Robert Herjavec and Daniel Lubetzky, to close a deal with them. Just like the Sharks, even viewers were head over heels in love with the product, but the price of the product threw them off.

Before making an offer Robert and Daniel wondered if they received any pushback from the customers for their high price point. The entrepreneurs then explained how it was priced the same as any mid-range bodyboard, while also pointing out since Tandem Boogie allowed two people to be on the board, it eliminated the need for two boards, thus actually saving money.
Robert and Daniel loved everything about the product and the family's work ethic, but they however wanted a higher stake in the company compared to what they were willing to offer. Daniel and Robert made a joint offer of $100k for 35% stake. The Clarks came up with a counteroffer of $100k for 30% and asked the Sharks if they would be okay with it. Robert and Daniel agreed to it and the deal was closed. The family left the tank feeling over the moon at reeling in two Sharks.
