'Shark Tank' Season 15 fans slam Hood founder for 'ridiculous' and 'not affordable' $90 custom baseball caps
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Have you always desired high-end headgear that fits and feels better? Thanks to Hood Hats, the wait is finally over, but $90 shouldn't be the price, according to 'Shark Tank' enthusiasts.
The cost increases with the fit of the cap and starts at $60. Snapback ($85), Snapback Curved ($85), Fitted ($80), Dad Hat ($70), 5-Panel ($85), and Knit Beanies ($80) are the average prices.
The material drives up the cost as well. For instance. $120 buys you a Cashmere Snapback.
The price is reduced to $65 with a Twill Snapback. Reacting to such varied prices, viewers took to Reddit to write, "just can't imagine paying $90 for a baseball hat with my hometown name on it."
Another user chimed in writing, "My thought as well. Especially when you can go on Etsy and order a custom hat from any number of sellers for around $25."
One viewer argued, "Most of my ball caps are Dodger logo caps and the ones at the actual stadium don’t cost that much. I think they’re closer to $50."
On X, fans wrote, "This Sharktank guest is dreaming in believing he can sell a $10 hat for a $100." Another user added, "That was ridiculous! Not affordable at all."

'Shark Tank's Hood Baseball Caps were invented to fill the void in the market for custom hats
Hood Baseball Caps were invented by Max Nelson, who took his invention to 'Shark Tank' to seek $500K for 5% in search of backers to help him grow. These handcrafted baseball hats are composed of Japanese twill, merino wool, gabardine, and cashmere, setting them apart from the competition.
Max felt that there was a need for high-quality, personalized ball caps. Although Max noted that blank caps could be purchased from abroad, he believed there should be a method to have them made in America using premium materials.
Hood inventor self-funded the 'Shark Tank' company
After funding the business alone for the first two years, Max collected additional funds from friends and family. But instead of seeking venture financing, he has decided to let the business develop naturally and on its own.
Hood Hat, which only sells high-quality, personalized luxury ball caps, is well-known for donating 5% of its proceeds to The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC), a group that works to stop mass imprisonment in California. Some of the greatest names in entertainment, including Jay Z, Ryan Reynolds, Floyd Mayweather, Sophia Culpo, Ben Affleck, Rick Ross, Jake Paul, Zach Braff, Swizz Beatz, Nas, and many more, have worn Hood Hats since the brand's launch.
'Shark Tank's Hood prides itself on being a 100% American-made product
Hood provides a variety of cap styles, such as fitted, dad hats, snapback, and snapback curved. He makes them with a choice of fonts and thirty distinct colors.
Additionally, preset designs based on TV icons, states, cities, universities, professional sports teams, music icons, and legends are available. Online users may also create their own custom hats.
Regarding the design, a unique mid-profile architecture is used in the cutting and sewing of each component. The interiors feature a polished appearance both inside and out and are lined with 100% cotton khaki trim.
Additionally, Max is proud to be selling an American-made product because it was created in New York City.
'Shark Tank' Season 15 airs on Fridays on ABC at 8 pm ET.
For those who missed the episode, it will be available on demand the following day and on Hulu. Additionally, viewers can explore past seasons and episodes on Amazon Prime Video and iTunes.
