‘Shark Tank’: OpulenceMD Beauty stole $100,000 deal for 20% with Kendra Scott but why did the founder cry?
"Lashes are the new boobs!" Dr Anika Goodwin, OpulenceMD Beauty founder's startling statement right at the beginning of her pitch turned heads. An ophthalmologist from Greensboro, North Carolina, she caught the Sharks’ eyes with her full range of glue-free, magnetic lashes.
During her pitch on ‘Shark Tank’ Season 12 Episode 20, she told the Sharks she had personally chosen lashes for each of them to try on. Excitedly, Mark Cuban said, "I can't wait to see mine." One fan was quick to retort back, "Yes! Seeing @mcuban with eyelash extensions is something that I never knew I needed! Available in different sizes and colors, the lashes meant for almond eyes, hooded eyes, monolid eyes, deep-set eyes and other kinds are priced at $37 on the official website.

Seeking $75,000 for a 5% stake in her company, Dr Anika did impress the Sharks with her story. Although all other Sharks said no to her, Kendra Scott offered her $75,000 but for a 20% stake in her company. Anika then countered with a 12% offer. However, Kendra said: "What if I give you $100,000 for 20%?"
When Anika tried to bargain further, asking for $120,000 for a 20% stake, Kendra said no adding, "I'm gonna stick with that!" Anika was then happy to say yes to the deal. Once she left the stage, she sobbed and remembered her parents. "My parents would be so proud right now. I wish they could see it."
The product also impressed many viewers. "If the eyelashes are made of mink, can they be considered vegan? I have no idea, nor am I vegan, but I forsee that being an issue," one posted and another said, "I am NOT a fake eyelash person, but @opulentlashlife can help millions and millions of other women, etc."
A third praised her saying, "This woman on #SharkTank is making a killing by selling her special fake eyelashes. Her profit margins are over 80%!" A fourth added, "I think $6 per wear is very reasonable for these high-quality lashes that look great and are safer for your eyes." And one went on to say: "Mink lashes is the new hot commodity."
