What is OpulenceMD Beauty?

Developed and tested under the guidance of Dr Anika Goodwin, OpulenceMD Beauty introduces a variety of products that help you skip the glue, keep the glam. Quicker and easier to apply than traditional options, the premium magnetic lashes won’t damage your natural lashes. What's more, you can pair them with magnetic liners, brow care and a mascara that tells you when it’s time to get tossed.

Not enough? keep your eyes healthy with ultra-gentle cleansers, eye makeup removers and eye-safe SPFs made to physician standards. The website also claims that its accessories bring together ease, artistry and healthy eye care practices.

Good for up to 45 wears, getting the lashes on is as easy as 1-2-3. Just line, apply and go. To remove, the right way to take it all off.

Who is the founder?

The founder of OpulenceMD Beauty, Dr Anika Goodwin, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and someone who used to really love glue-on lash extensions until she got fed up on the fake lashes. In 1997, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2001. She also worked as a physician with the Federal Government and after quitting her job, she started a company called EYEmergencyMD. In 2017, she started another company called DocMcdiva LLC before the idea for OpulenceMD beauty hit her in 2019.

Looking back at how her fondness for lashes damaged her eyes, she wrote, “Like a lot of my patients, and maybe even yourself, years of using traditional glue adhesive lashes had damaged my natural lashes to the point I needed the fake ones to look like my ‘real’ self. The proverbial vicious cycle had begun, and I wanted out.”

She also said, “As a doctor, I think we should never have to sacrifice our health to look good. Yet that’s the bind the beauty industry puts us in, especially when it comes to ocular health. And that’s when I realized my experience as a physician and a consumer put me in a unique position to create products that would free all of us from making that choice.”

What is the cost and where to buy?

Available in different sizes and colors, the lashes meant for almond eyes, hooded eyes, monolid eyes, deep set eyes and other kinds are priced at $37. Check out different types of lashes like Rich Chick, I've Been Framed, Savage, Now You See Me and Spectacular on the official website.

The Heiress Essentials Kit costs $70, Violet Vixen Essentials Kit is also priced at $70 and The Lashanista Starter Kit is available at $125. You can also get a Hello Gorgeous Cosmetic Bag for just $30 and a gift card starting from $50 for your girl friends.

Where is OpulenceMD Beauty now?

The company started in July 2019 and has come a long way despite the COVID-19 hit on the market. In September 2020, Stacy’s Rise Project and Hello Alice invested a $10,000 grant into OpulenceMD Beauty as it was a top business started by a Black female entrepreneur.

Not only Anika sells her products, she also partially or wholly sponsors eye screening sessions for people who cannot afford them on their own. The official website reads: “One of the leading chronic diseases affecting Americans right now is diabetes, a disease that can eventually cause damage to the eyes. Regular eye screenings are an important part of diabetes management, but for some, access is limited or not even available. That’s why every Double Lash Essentials Kit purchased at regular price helps sponsor a free or low cost diabetic screening exam.”

Who will crack the deal?

Since it's a beauty product, it seems Kendra Scott might be interested and could also get some competition from Lori Greiner and Barbara Corcoran. Who do you think is the perfect fit for this beauty-centric pitch? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
