'Shameless' season 9: Katey Sagal and Courtney Cox join the cast of Showtime comedy-drama
The 'Sons of Anarchy' star, Sagal, and 'FRIENDS' alum, Cox, will be guest starring alongside the shows the main cast - all of whom are returning this season.
It's never a boring season for the Gallagher men, but looks like this fall will be particularly exciting for the rowdy bunch as they kick-start their ninth installment on the popular Showtime show, 'Shameless.' And the said excitement will be courtesy two ravishing new beauties - Katey Sagal and Courtney Cox - both of whom have been reported to join the cast of the comedy-drama.
The 'Sons of Anarchy' star, Sagal, and 'FRIENDS' alum, Cox, will be guest starring alongside the shows' main cast - all of whom are returning this season, by the way, so it's suggested that fans and viewers of the show buckle up for this especially bumpy ride that's about to hit in a couple of weeks' time.
As Variety reported, Sagal will be joining the show as the recurring character Ingrid - a crazed psych patient - who catches Frank's (William H. Macy) eyes. Why doesn't that surprise us! And while you all can contemplate whether the not-so-beloved patriarch should really go for a prospective Monica 2.0, his eldest son doesn't seem to be doing any better either.
Which brings us to Cox - who will be joining the show as a famous actress called Jen Wagner with alcoholic problems in her past. As expected, she somehow ends up being joined at the hip with Lip (Jeremy Allen White) after he is hired as her sober companion and thus ensues a maniacal ride into the sunset. Well, technically around town, all in search of a cocktail.
Clearly, these Shameless men - well, the Gallagher family, at least - definitely have a type. And we love them for all the messed up crap they seem to get into. And now with Sagal and Cox getting on board, fans can only pray that whatever it is that the father-son duo has in store from these women, it's not too damaging. Not like the kind of women-problems they have experiences in the past, at least.
Returning this September 9 with the first part of the super-sized ninth season the show will also air its much-anticipated milestone of a 100th episode. The mid-season finale will air on October 21, this year. And when we say super-sized, it's because the bosses have decided to drift from their usual 12-episode per season rule and blessed fans with two extra episodes this time! The latter half of season nine will air in winter of 2019 - premiering on Sunday, January 20.
'Shameless' - created by Paul Abbott - is produced by Bonanza Productions, in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series was developed for American television by John Wells and is executive produced by Wells and Nancy M. Pimental.
