'Shadowhunters' season 3B: Malec did not have to flex on us so hard but they just snapped, claim fans

Freeform has finally listened to its fans and given them the closure they so desperately have been seeking. With quite the kick start at that too!

The first episode of Freeform's fantasy show 'Shadowhunters' season 3B just premiered and let's just say, the wait was worth it! Ever since it was announced to be canceled last year, fans have gone above and beyond to save the show from ending, or at least get it picked up by another network. And by the looks of it, even though there hasn't been much talk about saving the show after three successful years, Freeform has finally listened to its fans and given them the closure they so desperately have been seeking. With quite the kick-start at that too!

After a mid-season hiatus that left us with the very emotional finale of season 3A with Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) disappearing in the Mark of Cain explosion, the mid-season premiere picked up just days after that incident. The synopsis of the new show says: “Unbeknownst to them, the Shadowhunters face a new level of evil that they can’t even imagine with the arrival of Jonathan Morgenstern (Luke Baines), the true form of Clary’s brother. Glad to have their brother back, Alec (Matthew Daddario) and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) are still worried about Jace (Dominic Sherwood), who is taking the actions of The Owl very hard.”

The synopsis continues: “Magnus is also mourning the loss of his magic and finds himself in a new position—having to rely on others for help. Meanwhile, Maia (Alisha Wainwright) tries to help a devastated Simon (Alberto Rosende) who has lost his family and his best friend. But unknown to everyone, Clary is alive and finds herself in a new and dangerous predicament.” The said predicament and aforementioned threat here is revolving around Jonathan, who has been connected to Clary and is now back into the mortal world to unleash havoc.

But that's not all the treat this first comeback episode offered, as if answering fans' prayers, the Malec content overflowed throughout the episode in abundance! With Magnus suffering from the loss of his powers and trying to cope without them, there has been an obvious strain in his relationship with Alec, and while those bits were disheartening to witness, they sure did make up for the lack of steamy intense make-out sessions with a little flirting here, and a little peck on the cheek there and most importantly - the steamiest work out session that has ever been! Honestly, Malec did not have to flex on us so hard, but they just did that! And fans took notice of that too, because they pretty much freaked out on social media as the first episode of the second half of season 3B progressed.

There was also mention of Rosende's beautiful portrayal of Simon in this episode as the poor boy is overcome by both grief and guilt upon having lost both his family and best friend, and the fans were quick to recognize and appreciate that too!
