SF9 Youngbin announces his enlistment on Valentine’s Day, fans call it ‘top 10 anime betrayals’

Just days after the announcement of member Inseong’s enlistment, SF9’s leader Youngbin announces his mandatory military enlistment

While Valentine’s Days are special for fans of K-pop where idols treat fans with special content like live streams or special messages in the form of videos or handwritten notes, SF9 lead rapper and leader took a different route to celebrate the day of love. After member Inseong, who is also the oldest member of SF9, first announced his mandatory enlistment on February 4 that lead fans to hope that no more bittersweet news will follow after. Now, as the world celebrates Valentine’s week, Fantasy (fans of SF9) are not feeling all that romance as another member of SF9 has announced his enlistment in the military.

On February 14, exactly 10 days after the announcement of Inseong’s enlistment, FNC Entertainment, the label that manages the activities of SF9, announced that the second member of the nine-member group to enlist would be the group's second oldest member and leader Youngbin. With the news of Youngbin’s enlistment also came the announcement of the dates on which both members of the group would enlist.

Inseong and Youngbin to enlist in March

In their initial announcement, FNC Entertainment announced that Inseong, who is the first of two 93 liner members of SF9, would join the military band for his mandatory military enlistment and would start his basic military training at the training center on March 21. While Inseong is reported to complete his enlistment in the military band, Youngbin, the leader of SF9, has other plans.

The label announced that Youngbin would enlist as an active-duty soldier. In their official statement, FNC Entertainment reported that Youngbin will enlist in the 27th Division of the Army as an active-duty soldier and will also depart for his military service in March this year. Youngbin will start his military service from March 29, 2022, only a week after Inseong making the month of March extremely challenging for fellow SF9 members as well as fans who will face double enlistment in a short period.

Both Inseong and Youngbin are 93 liners of SF9 and the member to follow will be the group's only 94 liner Jaeyoon.

With the news of SF9’s leader Youngbin’s enlistment breaking on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, fans managed to make it hilarious by creating memes on the rappers epic timing. One fan said, “KIM YOUNGBIN dropping his enlistment date news during valentines… VALENTINES.” Another fan said, “Feb 14: valentine's day 👎 feb 14: youngbin military enlistment announcement.” One more fan said, “Me this Valentine's Day after reading "Youngbin" enlistment.”

A fan said, “Valentine Day who? We only know Youngbin enlistment news....” One more fan said, “For the coming valentine's day until youngbin come back im gonna cry not bcs im single as hell but it's bcs youngbin announced his enlistment on valentine's day 2022.” Another fan said, “I was hoping for Valentine's Day content but they gave me Youngbin enlistment news.” One more fan said, “So Youngbin announced his military enlistment but it's Valentine's day!
