Trust and betrayal play a role in determining Boots' behavior with Baba Voss and the remaining Alkeny tribe. Having known nothing but rejection all his life, it is him against the world

Spoilers ahead for 'See' Episode 6

Trust is a weird thing. You have to give it without knowing if you'll be betrayed because you did. In the harsh and unforgiving world of 'See', who you trust is the difference between staying safe and being in grave danger.

Haniwa (Nesta Cooper) learns this the hard way this week when Boots betrays them. Queen Kane learns this lesson too when she trusts one of the workers in the silk factory who turns out to be an informant.

A lot of questions thrown up by Episode 5 are answered in this episode. We learn that Maghra (Hera Hilmar) betrayed her sister first by trying to instigate a revolt against her and running away with her "prime consort", Jerlamarel (Joshua Henry).

On the other hand, the dying king did tell her to take over once she came of age and Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) refused to step down, forcing her to revolt.

Witchfinder and army general Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo) has played a key role in deciding the fate of the two sisters, helping Queen Kane retain power and forcing the life of a fugitive on Maghra.

There is little trust between the two, though Tamacti Jun still acknowledges her as the Princess and wants to find out why Queen Kane lied to him about her death.

The unknown factor is still Jerlamarel. Maghra and he were supposedly so in love that he relinquished the power he could have wielded through Queen Kane to be with her.

It is still unclear why he then abandoned her when she was pregnant or why he abandoned Boots (Franz Drameh) instead of taking him with him when he knew Boots would be shunned by the Opayal tribe.

Trust and betrayal also play a role in determining Boots' behavior with Baba Voss and the remaining Alkeny tribe. Having known nothing but rejection all his life, he has his guard up high. It is him against the world.

So he lies to Baba Voss and the twins, telling them Maghra had been killed before luring them all into an underground prison where they are recaptured by an underground tribe who have chosen to live below ground.

When Haniwa, the only one to trust Boots in the last episode asks him why he says there are "too many of them". He can take his chances with only one.

And that "one" is Maghra who he has seen wield power with an army bowing to her. He lies to her too, telling her that her family has moved on without her. He offers his services to her as long as she is "not mean" to him.

Meanwhile, Queen Kane, stripped off her power, is just another slave in the silk factory. She is beaten until she loses consciousness. When she is offered a bit of kindness from another worker, she accepts it and trusts her with her identity and her plan to overthrow the master of the silk factory.

It turns out, the woman is an informant who goes to the master with the "news". The master then extracts the amulet inside Queen Kane (transplanted from regent to regent as a symbol of the power they hold) and sends it to Tamacti Jun, asking for a ransom.

Back at the army camp, when Tamacti Jun and Maghra receive the amulet, they are both worried. This is when Boots tells Maghra that all the messengers sent by the silk factory master have not yet left.

He reveals to her that he can see the enemy "ghosts" who are still lingering around the army camp and that if she accepts him as her lieutenant, he will capture them for her. His eyes will give her the power she needs to succeed.

Baba Voss and company, trapped below, manage to escape after being helped by Boots' mother (who was also trapped below by Boots after he killed the entire Opayal tribe, one by one). She begs them to kill Boots because it is obvious that his rage has turned him into a monster. Haniwa agrees.

The conflict between the twins also seems to be escalating with Kofun blaming Haniwa for the troubles they have gone through. How long before, despite Baba Voss' devotion to his family and tribe, will the remaining Alkenny stick together and fight together? Especially after Maghra, the matriarch, has abandoned them?
