'See' Episode 6 will likely focus on micro-politics after sisters Maghra and Kane revealed to have love triangle with Jerlamarel

Maghra reclaims the power of her bloodline just when Queen Kane, her sister, has relinquished hers to seek out her "love" Jerlamarel. With that, the show, after laying out the macro mechanics of the post-apocalyptic tribal society in the first few episodes, takes a turn to the micro-politics

Episode 5 'Plastic' of 'See' casts a shadow on the former slave and new "seeing" prophet of the blind world of 'See' - Jerlamarel. Who would father a child and leave him to the tender mercies of the Opayol, a scavenger tribe, who hated him?

Boots (Franz Drameh), the twins' half-brother, abandoned by the tribe and living on his own, has become feral. When Baba Voss (Jason Momoa), Haniwa (Nesta Cooper) and Kofun (Archie Madekwe) find him, he begs to be included in their tribe. Starved of love and companionship, he wonders aloud to Haniwa if Maghra (Hera Hilmar) will be a mother to him like she is to the twins.

But Boots is also evidence of Jerlamarel's "infidelity" and his plan to spread his seed to create more sighted children. Maghra says as much when she lets Boots join them, saying with wry amusement, "Let's start building an army of the sighted".

From the very beginning, Maghra has been against the twins learning how to read and becoming pawns in Jerlamarel's "vision" of creating his "sighted" kingdom. She is against Jerlamarel's plan to create another hierarchy of power based on the ability to see.

She would rather disappear into the wilderness with Baba Voss and never have anything to do with power again. But, by the end of the episode, to protect her children (and Baba Voss), she steps up and lets Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo) recognize her as "Princess Maghra from the House of Kane".

She reclaims the power of her bloodline just when Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks), her sister, has relinquished hers to seek out her "love" Jerlamarel. With that, the show, after laying out the macro mechanics of the post-apocalyptic tribal society (and its ways) in the first few episodes, takes a turn to the micro-politics.

Episode 6 of 'See' in this first season will hopefully clarify some of the questions thrown up by the last episode. For instance, what strange love triangle lies between Jerlamarel and the two sisters?

Maghra is no longer in love with Jerlamarel as is evident in the way she sneers when she hears his name. She has a right to. Jerlmarael abandoned her too after impregnating her but thankfully left her in the loving arms of Baba Voss.

As the "sighted" prophet, Jerlamarel has acted as a cunning mastermind, building bridges, fathering babies and leaving "written" plans that serve his purpose to build a new kingdom with him as the new king. For the former slave who had to serve others, it shows Jerlamarel craves and wants power and will do what it takes to grab it, planning years into the future to get it.

Now we also know Jerlamarel got close to both Queen Kane and Maghra when they were princesses. Did he want to marry one of them to secure a kingdom? He had certainly driven a wedge between the two. Could Queen Kane have tried to kill Maghra out of jealousy and then pinned the "death" on Jerlamarel after they both ran away to escape her?

There are also hints Maghra was the favored daughter when their father was alive and Queen Kane might have also murdered her father to usurp his throne. So many questions! Hopefully episode 6 of 'See' will answer some of them when we tune in November 22.

'See' is available for streaming on Apple TV+ with new episodes released Friday.
