'Saved by the Bell': Meet Mitchell Hoog, Dexter Darden, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and rest of the cast of NBC reboot
If you've watched the '80s hit series 'Saved By The Bell', then you would understand the excitement and anticipation when fans found out that a release date for the sequel had been made official. We're back to Bayside, and Peacock, NBCUniversal's new streaming service is set to revive one of the best comedy series ever made. While most of the cast are reprising their roles, there are a lot of new exciting faces joining the cast.
Here is all you need to know about the cast bringing back the series to your screens.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack Morris
Besides being known as Zack Morris from the original 'Saved By the Bell', Mark is known for his roles as Peter Bash in 'Franklin & Bash' (2011-2014), Det John Clark Jr. in 'NYPD Blue' (2001-2005), Brad Wolgast in 'The Passage' (2019) and Mike Lawson in 'Pitch' (2016). His recent works include 'Nobodies' (2018), the audible original, '64th Man' (2019), and 'Mixed-ish' (2019-2020). In 1991, the actor won a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor Starring in an Off-Primetime Series for 'Saved by the Bell' (1989). He had also been nominated for a Nominee Young Artist Award in 1989 for Best Young Actor in a Cable Family Series for 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss' (1987), and a Prism Award in 2005 for Performance in a Drama Series Episode for 'NYPD Blue'.
Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski-Morris
Thiessen is known for her roles as Kelly Kapowski in the original 'Saved by the Bell', Sharon Bates in 'Hollywood Ending' (2002), Wilhelmina 'Billie' Chambers in 'Fastlane' (2002-2003), and Elizabeth Burke in 'White Collar' (2009-2014). Her only recent work is her role as Lori Mendoza in 'Alexa and Katie' (2018-2020). The actress was nominated for two Jury awards in 2005 - one at the Tribeca Film Festival for Best Narrative Short for 'Just Pray' (2005), and another at the Palm Springs International ShortFest for Best Live Action Over 15 Minutes for the same production. She was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2003 for Choice TV Actress - Drama/Action Adventure for 'Fastlane'.
Mario Lopez as A.C. Slater
Lopez is an actor, producer, and a writer known for his roles as A.C Slater in the original 'Saved by the Bell' (1989-1992), Officer Bobby Cruz in 'Pacific Blue' (1998-2000), himself in 'Get Him to the Greek' and David Morales in 'Outta Time' (2002). His recent works include 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' (2019), 'The Rookie' (2019), 'The Baker and the Beauty' (2020), 'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia' (2020), and 'Game On! A Comedy Crossover Event' (2020). He has a TV movie titled 'Feliz NaviDAD' that is listed as completed. Lopex has won two Daytime Emmys - one in 2016 for Outstanding Entertainment News Program for 'Extra' and another in 2014 for the same category and the same production. He shared both awards with his teammates. He also has won three Young Artis Awards - one in 1994 for Outstanding Youth Host in a TV Magazine, News or Variety Show for 'Name Your Adventure' (1992) and the other two in 1993, one for Best Young Actor in an Off-Primetime Series for 'Saved by the Bell' (1989) and the other for Outstanding Hosts for a Youth Magazine, News or Game Show for 'Name Your Adventure'.
Elizabeth Berkley as Jessica Spano
Berkley is famously known for her role as Jessica Spano in the original 'Saved By the Bell' but her other notable works include her roles as Nomi Malone in 'Showgirls' (1995), Phoebe LaVelle in 'The First Wives Club' (1996), Trudy in 'S. Darko' (2009), Jil in 'The Curse of the Jade Scorpion' (2001). Her recent roles include 'Melissa & Joey' (2014), and 'New Girl' (2016). In 1996, the actress won an NBR Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble for 'The First Wives Club' (1996), which she shared with her castmates.
Josie Totah as Lexi
Totah is known for roles as Michael Patel in 'Champions' (2018), Justin in 'Other People' (2016), Myron Muskovitz in 'Glee' (2015) and Stuart Wooten in 'Jessie' (2013-2015). Her most recent works include 'The Other Two' (2019), 'No Good Nick' (2019), 'Magic Camp' (2020), and 'Good People' (2020). She has a release titled 'Moxie' which is listed as completed. Tota plays the role of Lexi, a "sharp-tongued cheerleader." In 2014, the talented actress was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series - Recurring Young Actor 10 and Under for 'Jessie' (2011). According to the actresses IMDb page she has been recognized in The Hollywood Reporter's Top 30 Stars Under 18, Forbes 30 Under 30 (Hollywood), Teen Vogue's 21 Under 21, Out Magazine OUT100, and Seventeen Magazine's 6 Women Under 21 Who Are Changing the World.
Dexter Darden as Devante
Darden is known for his roles as Frypan in 'The Maze Runner' franchise, Walter Hill in 'Joyful Noise' (2012), and Nate in 'Victorious' (2010). His recent works include 'Cabal' (2019), 'Sone of the South' (2020) and 'The Binge' (2020). He plays the role of DeVante, a "mysterious loner" who's come to Bayside High, looking for a fresh start.
Haskiri Velazquez as Daisy
Velazquez is known for her roles as Rosay in 'The Forty-Year-Old Version' (2020), Charlotte in 'The Birch' (2019), and Melissa Rodriguez in 'Blue Bloods' (2020). Her recent works include 'The Last Nazi' (2019), and 'Lost Girls' (2020). She has a release titled 'What Lies Belos' as completed. She plays the role of Daisy in 'Saved by the Bell' sequel, a "smart, ambitious sophomore."
Mitchell Hoog as Mac Morris
Hoog is known for his roles as Vince in 'Harriet' (2019), JC Snyder in 'Walk. Ride. Rodeo.' (2019), Young Jesse in 'Roswell, New Mexico' (2019-2020)and Teen Intern in 'Richard Jewell'. He will be playing Young Ed in the upcoming 'The Conjuring 3' (2021) as well. His most recent works include 'Daybreak' (2019), 'Richard Jewell' (2019), 'The Surrogate' (2020), 'After Masks' (2020) and 'Freaky' (2020). He will be playing the role of Mac Morris, Zack Morris's privileged son.
Alycia Pascual-Pena as Aisha
Pascual-Pena is an actress known for her roles as Clara in 'Jerry Bruckheimer's Chase', in 'Moxie', and as TT in 'The Plug'. She plays the role of Aisha, Daisy's competitive best friend.
Belmont Cameli as Jamie Spano
Cameli is known for his roles as Marcus in 'The Husband' (2019), Trevor in 'Most Guys are Losers', and a role in 'Empire' (2018). He plays the role of Jamie Spano in the new 'Saved By The Bell', he is Jessie Spano's "sensitive jock son".
As earlier reported, the plot is as follows "The reboot will see Zack Morris as governor of California get into trouble for closing a low-income school and as damage control, he suggests that affected students be sent to the highest performing schools in the state which includes Bayside High. This brings about a conflict between the new students and the privileged Bayside kids."
'Saved by the Bell' will premiere November 25, 2020, on Peacock. Watch the trailer below.
