'Saved by the Bell' Sequel: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the NBC reboot
'Saved by the Bell', the popular American television series that aired from 1989 to 1993 on NBC is getting a sequel and will be aired on Peacock, NBC's newly titled streaming site. The original was a teen show created by Sam Bobrick starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley among others. E News confirmed 'Saved by the Bell' is officially getting a reboot along with a new 'Punky Brewster', which will also see Soleil Moon Frye reprise her role as an adult.
Release date
The straight to series order by NBC will premiere on November 25, 2020.
Plot
The reboot will see Zack Morris as governor of California get into trouble for closing a low-income school and as damage control, he suggests that affected students be sent to the highest performing schools in the state which includes Bayside High. This brings about a conflict between the new students and the privileged Bayside kids.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack Morris
Actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar is expected to play Zack Morris who would be the governor in the reboot. While Gosselaar plays a lead role in 'Mixed-ish' he recently revealed he is open to revisiting his role in 'Saved by the Bell'. However, this has not been officially confirmed as of now.
Elizabeth Berkley as Jessie Spano
Elizabeth Berkley played the role of a straight-A student and a strong, feminist activist in the original show. In the reboot, she is reportedly reprising her role as an adult.
Mario Lopez as Albert Clifford "A.C." Slater
Actor Mario Lopez plays the role of Albert Clifford "A.C." Slater is the jock of the team, who is a star athlete who excels at wrestling and is also a quarterback in the football team.
Creator
The reboot will be created by Tracey Wigfield who won an Emmy for '30 Rock.'
