'The Masked Singer' Season 7 is yet to premiere but the FOX show's upcoming season is already making waves on social media, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. The fun singing competition show features celebrities hiding underneath an elaborate costume and singing a tune of their choice. The judges and audience then try guessing who might be hiding underneath the costume.

While most unmaskings end up leaving the judges and the fans either surprised or grinning from ear to ear, the upcoming unmasking of Rudy Giuliani managed to trigger quite a few. According to reports, the infamous attorney of former president Donald Trump was unmasked as an exiting contestant during the last week's taping of 'The Masked Singer'. The big reveal reportedly managed to upset judges- Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, who reportedly left the stage in protest. While the other judges' Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger remained onstage.

According to Deadline, the judges reportedly bantered with Giuliani, who is known for his infamous claim of the 2020 presidential election being rigged against his client and close pal Donald Trump. The theme of the upcoming season is "The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly”. Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke weren't the only ones to have such strong reactions against the casting of Giuliani on the show. Several fans took to Twitter to call out the show for booking someone so controversial as a contestant on the show.

A fan tweeted, "Breaking Rudy Giuliani holding press conference at four seasons landscaping company as to the corruption of the “Masked Singer” voting process. Calling on Pence to overturn the voter’s decision! #maskedsinger." Another fan wrote, "Not sure if #MaskedSinger has ever used a shark costume or if they simply jumped right over it. It's bad enough to give Anti-Vaxx Barbie, Jenny McCarthy, any kind of public platform, but such a tasteless gaffe as to book Rudy Giuliani should be the show's death knell.."

"Shame on the #maskedsinger producers for thinking Rudy Giuliani, a criminal and traitor who tried to overthrow our presidential election, makes for a suitable guest on tv. Seriously, f*** off every one who agreed with that booking choice," added a fan.

Another fan shared, "I thought the #MaskedSinger was about singers & you had to figure out who it was? What exact hit song does Rudy have? Clearly I will never need to bother to check this show out.." "@MaskedSingerFOX WHAT were you thinking having coup-tastic, skeevy-ass Rudy Giuliani on your show? Also, who watches this show anyway? Seems like something on the hospital tv you can't change. #MaskedSinger #RobinThicke," expressed a fan.

Another fan commented, "Was the #maskedsinger doing that bad in ratings they needed to pull off a stunt like this!? Talk about free advertising “casting Rudy”. I guess that’s one way to take his mind off future criminal charges and hopefully jail time. #tvtime #rating #Primetime #RudyGiuliani."

This isn’t the first time that 'The Masked Singer' has faced backlash for its casting choices. In March 2020, the series unmasked Republican politician Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, as the Bear, which didn't sit well with the fans.

The Masked Singer' Season 7 premieres on March 9 on Fox.
