Rosario Dawson confirms 'The Punisher' revival, fans joke Kevin Feige is having the 'worst week'
Apart from making Marvel Cinematic Universe a force to be reckoned with, the production giant has worked tirelessly to achieve the same level of success on the television side as well. Recent shows like ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Loki’ have been massively successful while ‘Ms. Marvel’ told an engrossing origin story of a young superhero. However, it was shows like ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ that laid a strong foundation for them. Another show that played a pivotal role in Marvel’s success on TV was ‘The Punisher’.
The show turned out to be a rage among the fans for two seasons and made Jon Bernthal a worldwide phenomenon. The show premiered on Netflix and was canceled after two seasons due to licensing problems. Since then, fans have been demanding Marvel to bring the character back and it seems they are finally getting what they asked for. Three years after the conclusion of the gruesome series, ‘Daredevil’ star Rosario Dawson has teased that the anti-hero might be making a comeback to the small screen.

While making an appearance at this year’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), the actress accidentally revealed that ‘The Punisher’ might be making an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe pretty soon. In a video shared by YouTuber Yaqub Farook on Twitter, Dawson can be seen saying that a new ‘Punisher’ series is in development at Marvel and hopes that her character, Claire Temple, gets featured in it this time around after missing out on that opportunity during the Netflix series.
She said, “I found out yesterday that ‘The Punisher’ was happening again, so I feel like it’s my second chance, because it was the only one of the shows that I wasn’t in, and I love Jon Bernthal. So, let’s all make it happen collectively, guys.”
As soon as the video surfaced online, social media went berserk and shared their excitement on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. However, there were many who joked that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is going to have a sleepless night after Dawson’s slip-up. One of the fans wrote, “Wonder what Kevin Feige is thinking right now? Hmm”. Another social media user said, “Kevin is having the worst week ever lmao”. Another social media user tweeted, “Kevin Feige is not going to like this. LOL”.

On the other hand, there were many who requested Marvel to bring back characters like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones as well. One of the users said, “Can we please just bring back all the Netflix Marvel heroes? Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, specifically”. Another fan noted, “Daredevil and The Punisher returning? I guess there is still hope for Jessica Jones”. Another social media user wrote, “With Daredevil and The Punisher, I would love to see either a continuation of Luke Cage or a revamp.”

Dawson played the role of Claire Temple in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series and the way she confirmed the news seemed to be pretty convincing. The news of a possible ‘Punisher’ series comes almost a couple of weeks after Marvel announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that a new ‘Daredevil’ series will be making its way to Disney+ in Spring 2024. Titled ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, the series will see Charlie Cox reprising the role of the iconic superhero and consists of 18 episodes.
We are hoping to get an official announcement from Marvel on ‘The Punisher’ in the coming weeks, till then, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
