Disney Plus is on a roll and has decided to go all-in with some major 'Star Wars' content. It all, but made sure that 'The Mandalorian' was just the start as it announced seven new shows under the 'Star Wars' banner. Some of the live-action series include 'Rangers of the New Republic' from Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni that is set during the same timeline of 'The Mandalorian', a new Landi Calrissian even series titled 'Lando' from Justin Simien, Russian Doll Leslye Headland's mysterious 'Star Wars' series is titled, 'The Acolyte' and is dubbed a mystery-thriller series.

However, the biggest of all would be the live-action series on Ahsoka Tano. The Rosario Dawson-played character was integral in Season 2 of 'The Mandalorian' and an entire episode titled 'The Jedi' was dedicated to her making her the central part of the episode. The announcement was made on Thursday during the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day 2020 presentation. 'Star War' Twitter confirmed the news by saying: "Ahsoka, a new Original Series, starring @RosarioDawson and set within the timeline of @TheMandalorian, is coming to @DisneyPlus."

Ahead of 'Ahsoka's release, here's everything we know so far:

Release date

The timeline is unknown, but we reckon the production for the series has already begun. In all probability, the series might take 'The Mandalorian' template of 30-40 minute episodes and will most likely release sometime in 2021. That said, we'll keep you posted on any developments.

Plot

Taking from the events of 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 Episode 5: 'The Jedi' saw her in search of Admiral Thrawn and her battle with Morgan Elsbeth all but says the hunt for Thrawn could possibly be the crux of the new series that will most definitely span multiple seasons. The character's appearance was well-received on social media. The character has already been presented to the world in an animation avatar, 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'. This will be a new direction for the franchise as a whole.

Cast

For now, what we do know is Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the famed Padawan warrior. She played the role of 'The Mandalorian' and will be back as the titular character in 'Ahsoka'. While details of the other cast members are kept under wraps, the information about the series will trickle down over the next few months.
