The blind auditions of 'The Voice' Season 20 continued on Episode 3 where the views got to see a lot of drama when contestant Pia Renee landed on stage. The African-American crooner floored the judges with her soulful performance on Stevie Wonder's 'Master Blaster (Jammin')'.
The talented crooner started off with her powerful vocals and only took it a notch higher before finishing her set for the blinds. Looking at her performance, we were expecting a four-chair turn but it was only country legend Blake Shelton and R&B icon John Legend who turned their respective big red chairs at the very last minute.

Who is Pia Renee?
“I have done R&B and soul but Reggae has my heart” is how Pia Renne described herself when John asked to introduce herself. Before the meet and greet, Blake was quite taken aback as to why Legend turned his chair around and it took a lot of convincing for both the coaches before Renee picked Legend as her coach for the rest of ‘The Voice’ journey.
Speaking of the contestant, Pia Renee discovered her talent for music at age of six and but did not pursue music as a career until she was in her 20s. She has auditioned for Season 7 of ‘American Idol’ where she also earned praises from the usual-strict Simon Cowell. Renee is skilled at playing the bass and has also dropped her EP called ‘In Training’ and ‘Enmity.’ She went on to tour as a background singer and bass guitar player with Ethiopian World Music, Ethiopian singer-songwriter Teddy Afro, Reggae Star and with a local reggae band Dub Dis. Earning her little piece of fame, the singer has also lent her voice for Walmart commercials including one that aired during the 2020 Super Bowl. Apart from this, Renee has also appeared in a non-speaking role in a couple of episodes of the hit FOX series ‘Empire’.
‘For a minute I didn't think she would get a chair turn’
‘The Voice’ viewers loved the performance given by Pia Renee but they were concerned about the last-minute chair turn arounds from the coaches. Speaking on the same lines, one user stated, “Pia Renee got her game face on, pulling out some early riffs. Her range has the coaches turning their heads but where are the chairs? That fast segment was interesting. Then she brings even more grit, gets 2 chairs at the very last second #TheVoice #VoiceBlinds." Another added, “Pia has a very nice voice. I'm glad that she got two chair turns. For a minute I didn't think she would get a chair turn. #TheVoice”
The next one said, “So glad Pia picked John, obviously Blake doesn't know much about Reggae #TheVoice” One posted, “Um --- they waited TOO LONG to turn for Pia Renee #TheVoice” Another stated, “@blakeshelton I was so ready for that duo! Pia + Blake would have been so cool! Zany face#VoiceBlinds #TheVoice” One asked, “Why they wait till the last freakin minute?”
