However, things are getting pretty heated up at the headquarters of the Raven Society as Lord James Harwood (Jason Flemyng) is certainly being misled to believe that he is surrounded by traitors and no one is actually his ally.

Is Colonel John Salt “misleading” the leader of the Raven Society?

The episode will give an idea of how Colonel John Salt (Edward Hogg) is trying to keep Frances Gaunt (Anna Chancellor) in solitary confinement and get himself closer to the leader of the society. In the episode, Lieutenant Greaves (Angus Imrie) talks to John and tells him that Frances is innocent and someone from within the team is trying to mislead Harwood for their own malicious intents.

John hears him and says he will call him at the right time. However, he has something evil on his mind. The next scene sees John trying to be his confidant and giving him a piece of information that would drive Harwood mad. John tells him that there is a traitor among the league and he or she is trying to make things worse for everyone by freeing Gaunt. He also says that anyone who comes up to him and talks about Gaunt is a “traitor”. Harwood is pleased with John and blesses him with a knighthood.

In the next scene, we see Lieutenant Greaves talking to Harwood and citing the reasons why Gaunt should be brought back into the team. Harwood believes Greaves is a traitor and starts shouting at him. As soon as Greaves starts to answer him back, Harwood hits him with his stick and kills him by repeatedly hitting him on the back of his head.

The whole room is horrified to see Harwood’s reaction and is in complete silence. As Greaves is pronounced dead, his commanding officer Sergeant Bennett (James Quinn) sees the body of one of his soldiers on the floor and orders his men to put Harwood into solitary confinement.

Interestingly, John Salt doesn’t say anything and lets them take Harwood away.

Does Col John Salt want to be the leader of Raven Society?

John has always been close to Harwood but his advice was always overshadowed by Gaunt. Salt has been the mind behind Project Stormcloud and oversees the entire project. However, he never gets the praise that he deserves because he is a commoner. With Gaunt and Harwood in solitary confinement, John would be the highest-ranked person in the union. Also, the pills that he repeatedly gives to Harwood seem to have made him a maniac and he doesn't understand what he's doing under the influence of those pills.

John can now take decisions without any interference and take the credit for Stormcloud. It will be interesting how John will take the league forward without Harwood and Gaunt. With their fates in John’s hand, let’s see how Harwood and Grant get to know that the only traitor within the team might possibly be John.

‘Pennyworth’ returns to EPIX with a new episode on Sunday.
