Paps under fire for trolling AleXa at 2022 BBMAs, fans say 'go argue with Snoop Dogg’
Racism is at its all-time peak with Asian artists taking over the Entertainment industry. With the Korean Entertainment industry, followed by Thailand and Japan more recently, dominating the hearts of fans who are enjoying K-pop music, K-dramas, Thai BLs, and Anime, there seems to be a rise in disrespect towards Asian artists in the Hollywood space.
After NCT’s Johnny made his debut at the 2022 MET Gala, a lot of racist comments surfaced online that highlighted how international reporters and paps (paparazzi) think about Korean artists in particular.
Not long after the issue, another K-pop idol was seen being disrespected in Hollywood, this time at the 2022 BBMA’s (Billboard Music Awards) Red Carpet. AleXa is now soaring high in the US after she became the first-ever K-pop idol to win the NBC competition, ‘American Song Contest’. Following her big win on the show, she appeared as a guest on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ as well as at the 2022 BBMAs.

K-pop idol AleXa is disrespected by press reporters
As soon as it was announced that AleXa was going to appear on the award show, AI Troopers (fans of AleXa) began hoping to be able to see the singer perform on stage; but much to their disappointment, AleXa was only invited to present an award and not perform at the event. But it seems like a new video from the Red Carpet of the 2022 BBMAs is doing the rounds online, which suggests that AleXa was trolled by the paparazzi while she posed at the Red Carpet ahead of the show. The video was posted on YouTube channel WMTV.
The video reveals AleXa posing for the reporters while two unidentified men talk about AleXa in a condescending manner. The paparazzi was seen complaining about a woman in a way that has fans believing they were slandering AleXa. The duo said things like, “She is something else,” or “I don’t like her,” and "All she is is this!” They were also heard saying, “She was there, but she won’t do any of the photos. Who does she think she is?”
These comments were not confirmed to be specifically about AleXa in any way, but the video was soon taken to TikTok and eventually went viral after many people reshared and reacted to it. While there was nothing racist about these comments, fans allege that the reporters were sexist and disrespectful towards AleXa who has always been courteous and respectful with reporters and paparazzi for a long time.
‘Have some respect’
Fans have been bashing the photographers as one fan said, “This was disrespectful commentary.” One more fan said, “WHO IS THAT TALKING???? I KNOW MUSIC IS A PREFERENCE, "BUT" ARE YOU REALLY GONNA TALK ABOUT IT WHEN YOU'RE TALKING RUDE TO SOMEONE "FEW METERS" NEAR YOU!!!! THAT WAS SO0OO RUDE! Y'ALL TAKING PICTURES OF THESE CELEBRITIES FOR MONEY, AT LEAST HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THEM WHILE YOU'RE LITERALLY TAKING PICTURES OF THEM, LIKE IN FRONT OF THEM!” Another fan said, “I just wanna see the face of the person talking smack about her.” One fan asked, “Who does she think she is" uh who do YOU think you are?”
One fan said, “Not these crusty men trash talking about her. I hope someone can track down who they are... y'all do your work to find him please.” One more fan said, “Who's the behind commentary? Alexa needs to sue them that was so disrespectful.” Another fan said, “Ummm Who do you think you are? You're not even worth Alexa's toenail.” A fan said, “Whoever is trash talking should be fired! That'd so unprofessional! Rather they were trashing her or another artist!! He don't realize you don't mess with kpop fans,” and another fan responded, “Whoever is talking trash is obviously jealous he's not good enough to have the cameras pointed at him.” One fan joked, “Who does she think she is?" a star, go argue with Snoop Dogg.”
