Contains spoilers for 'Palm Royale'
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: 'Palm Royale', streaming on Apple TV+, transports viewers to the bygone era of the 1960s. Set in Palm Beach, the series introduces Kristen Wiig as the protagonist who strives to make a place in the elite society.
As the series concludes with the tenth episode premiering on May 8, we have listed down some of our favorite moments from the series where excitement and emotions reached their peak.
1. 'Palm Royale' Episode 3 - Evelyn Rollins breaks Maxine Simmons' delusion
The first spark ignites in 'Palm Royale' when Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) has to host the elite woman at her house. Despite Robert Diaz's (Ricky Martin) resistance, she pushes her way into the Dellacorte mansion.
Throughout the evening, Maxine tries hard to impress the women and fit into their enclosed circle. Though she fails at her attempts, shock kicks in when Evelyn Rollins (Allison Janney) tells Maxine the truth about Norma Dellacorte's will.
Maxine learns that her husband, the sole heir of Dellacorte family, won't be inheriting Norma Dellacorte's (Carol Burnett) wealth. Instead, she has chosen to donate her entire wealth to a trust for cats.
2. 'Palm Royale' Episode 6 - Maxine Simmons sends invitation letters
Throughout the series, Maxine tries to build honest friendships based on trust and reliability. She dismisses the idea of being a hypocritical socialite and believes that real relationships aren't a myth.
However, when the elite society fails her, she does what's needed. Despite her initial reluctance, Robert Diaz convinces her to send out Norma's invitation letters to the Palm Beach residents.
This moment alone changes the course of Maxine's life. Someone who grapples with financial struggles and a lack of attention suddenly finds herself thrust into the spotlight, making waves for her bold step.
3. 'Palm Royale' Episode 7 - Robert Diaz's heartbreak
'Palm Royale' Episode 7 consists of some of the most heartfelt moments. From Maxine and Douglas going through the complexities of their relationship, to Douglas owning up to his mistakes and getting arrested, the episode captivates us from start to finish.
However, it's the climax scene of the episode that stands out as one of the best moments in the entire series.
Maxine betrays Robert by tipping off the authorities about the fake Prince (Ben Palacios), while in return, she insists on dropping all charges against Douglas.
Robert stands in longing, awaiting his Prince charming's arrival. Instead, Maxine brings Douglas home and conceals the truth about Prince and her betrayal.
4. 'Palm Royale' Episode 8 - Norma Dellacorte's recovery and evil schemes
In Episode 8 of 'Palm Royale', Norma Dellacorte takes center stage as she recovers from her prolonged illness. Upon her recovery, her first act is to scheme against Maxine Simmons.
She spikes Maxine's cocktail with insulin and waits for her death. However, in a twist of events, Ann Holiday (Mindy Cohn) gulps down Maxine's drink and falls into a coma.
Norma's evil schemes continue in Episode 9 when she pushes her out of the boat.
5. 'Palm Royale' Episode 10 - Maxine Simmons learns about Douglas Dellacorte's betrayal
The finale episode of the Apple TV+ series is filled with revelations and confrontations. However, the standout moment is when Maxine discovers Douglas' infidelity.
Douglas betrays Maxine by having an affair with her friend and manicurist, Mitzi (Kaia Gerber).
The betrayal deepens as Mitzi becomes pregnant with Douglas' child, while Maxine has struggled with infertility for the past two decades since losing their first baby.
Maxine, during her performance on stage, breaks down and exposes Douglas. Their picture-perfect relationship thus concludes on a devastating note.
