Noah Hawley’s directorial debut feature 'Pale Blue Dot' is currently filming and is scheduled for a 2019 release. It looks likeistributors Fox Searchlight are not quite planning on keeping things hushed up for longer. Take for example the very generous first look they offered of Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman's character from the movie. Starring in the true story drama as NASA Captain, Portman plays the role of Lisa Nowak, who had made news headlines back in 2007. The reason behind her infamous popularity? She had driven 900 miles from Houston to Orlando with a knife and a BB gun, just to confront a man called Bill Oefelein, and his new girlfriend. Oefelein was her former lover and fellow astronaut.
The film showcases Hawley’s first attempt at directing films, after having created extremely successful dramas for Fox, like 'Fargo' and 'Legion'. He had also directed several episodes on both the shows. And while the directorial debut does seem promising, the all-star cast of the film is equally stellar.

Joining Portman will Jon Hamm in the role of Oefelein, Hawley’s 'Legion' actor Dan Stevens will play the role of Nowak's husband, Ellen Burstyn, and 'Atlanta' and 'Deadpool 2' actor Zazie Beetz. Initially, Legally Blonde actress Reese Witherspoon was supposed to lay the role of Nowak, but soon Portman took over from her after she left to film for her show, Big Little Lies. Witherspoon still continues to be a producer on the film though.
The plot of the movie revolves around Nowak, of course. She was a married astronaut when she began an affair with Jon Hamm's character, after returning home from a space mission. Things go haywire when Hamm's character starts sleeping with an astronaut trainee - thus triggering a rapid meltdown for Lucy, who as a result of circumstances, starts losing her grip on reality.
What follows is her kidnapping Oefelein's lover and an ongoing turbulent saga — which probably won't be portrayed as grittily as the tabloid scandal that had emerged surrounding the story, especially due to Nowak's alleged use of space diapers.

Production for 'Pale Blue Dot' had begun in June and the film is expected to wrap filming in September this year. It is supposed to arrive in theatres sometime in 2019.
Following this project, Portman is also starring for the leading role in Brady Corbet’s music drama 'Vox Lux', where she plays the role of a popstar forced to reflect on her legacy. 'Vox Lux' is expected to premiere in competition at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.
Apart from this venture, Hawley is busy with creating his comic book movie about Doctor Doom, and also another FX series called The Mastermind, other than the new and upcoming seasons of LEgions and Fargo.
