Oscars Nominations 2023: 'RRR's 'Naatu Naatu' creates history with Best Original Song nod, fans say 'proud moment for India'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' took the world by storm with its epic storytelling, brilliant sequences, and 'Naatu Naatu'. Well, if you don't know what 'Naatu Naatu' is, then you are missing out one of the peppiest songs of 2022. The song went on to become a huge success among viewers and forced them to dance on the tune even when they were sitting in a theatre packed with people. It seems the Academy also found the song to be insanely good and nominated it for the Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards.
โRRRโ has been one of the most popular titles in the world now and garnered a lot of recognition from around the globe. The movie focuses on two Indian revolutionaries - Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem - in the 1920s. The film stars Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr. in the lead roles. The movie received universal acclaim from critics as well as audiences and went on to earn more than $175 million globally, becoming the third highest-grossing Indian movie of all time. The song, composed by MM Keeravani, went on to win the Best Original Song accolade at this year's Critics' Choice Awards and Golden Globes.

'Naatu Naatu' will be facing a stiff competition from the likes of 'Applause' ('Tell It Like a Woman'), 'Hold My Hand' ('Top Gun: Maverick'), 'Lift Me Up' ('Black Panther: Wakanda Forever') and 'This Is a Life' ('Everything Everywhere All at Once') for the prestigious trophy.

Within 24 hours of its release, the song crossed over 17 million views in Telugu, becoming the most-viewed Telugu song. Meanwhile, it garnered 35 million views in all five languages. As of now, the song has more than 200 million views on YouTube.
'RRR' currently holds a rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and 83% on Metacritic.
The 95th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and air live on ABC.
