The nominations for the 93rd edition of The Academy Awards are finally here and just like always, Oscars never ceases to surprise the fans. The moment all the main categories for this year’s nods were revealed by Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, it nosedived straight into a controversy.
In a piece of shocking news for movie buffs, LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya got nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for their critically acclaimed flick ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’. Social media users were left baffled with one of the most unexpected nominations and questioned the Academy that if these two were the supporting actors, then who was the lead.
In the same category, LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya are up against Sacha Baron Cohen for ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’, Leslie Odom Jr for ‘One Night in Miami’, and Paul Raci for ‘Sound of Metal’. For the unversed, ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ scored a total of six nods at Oscars 2021.

As soon as the shocking news of LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya getting nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category hit the Internet, social media users were left befuddled and stormed Twitter with their opinions. Speaking on the same lines, one user stated, “Nobody told me LaKeith was supporting.what?” Another shared, “How are both lakeith and daniel supporting roles? who's the lead in judas then?”
The next one shared a meme of Spider-Man and said, “Daniel kaluuya and lakeith stanfield figuring out who’s the lead then.” Another added, “Lakeith Stanfield SHOCKS with a Supporting Actor nomination. Oscars 2021 nominations of all 23 categories were announced on March 15 at 8.19 am ET. The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony will take place on April 25, 2021, at the Dolby Theatre. The much-awaited award ceremony will be broadcasted live on the ABC Television Network.
