The first trailer for the fun-filled yet goofy new installment follows a brand new shenanigan-prone night watchman, Nick Daley, as he navigates the mysterious magical ins and outs of the Museum of Natural History. It is safe to assume that Nick (voiced by Joshua Bassett) has a little bit of nepotism on his side as his father has been the night watchman for years. In fact, Nick’s father selects him as a summer replacement since he’s family, (also because Larry was asked by Teddy) he already knows that the museum has some distinctive ins and outs aka the tablet which brings everything and everyone to life including familiar franchise faces like Octavius (Jack Whitehall), Sacagawea (Kieran Sequoia), and Jedediah (Steve Zahn).

“When the sun goes down. Nick Daley’s summer gig as night watchman at the museum is a challenging job for a high school student, but he is following in his father’s footsteps and is determined not to let him down,” reads the official synopsis for the film. “Luckily, he is familiar with the museum’s ancient tablet that brings everything to life when the sun goes down and is happy to see his old friends, including Jedediah, Octavius, and Sacagawea, when he arrives. But when the maniacal ruler Kahmunrah escapes with plans to unlock the Egyptian underworld and free its Army of the Dead, it is up to Nick to stop the demented overlord and save the museum once and for all.”

The film will include Kahmunrah, the antagonist of the second film along with Teddy Roosevelt and Sacagawea with the addition of Joan of Arc. Matt Danner is directing the film.

'Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again' is set to release exclusively on December 9, 2022, on Disney+.
