It was an emotional episode of 'New Amsterdam' and one of the bigger questions that fans were asking and speculating about was whether Janet Montgomery (Lauren Bloom) would be leaving the hit NBC medical drama. One of the storylines in Episode 13 was Lauren finally meeting Dr Leyla Shinwari, who had since disappeared after her fight. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) tells her that Leyla had applied and asked for a recommendation. This gladdens and upsets Lauren, and at the end of the episode, she tells Leyla that she's leaving.

It's a tough call to have made, and there is certainly a chance that she wouldn't be quitting. Lauren has been an integral part of the hospital. This was a thought echoed by some of the fans who caught the episode. "I don't see her quitting at all. There are bigger things in play, and I can't envision that happening especially with Max back. And I don't know if I buy Leyla agreeing to that either. New Amsterdam is Lauren's home," one of the fans opined. "oh f*** that promo. sharpwin drama. lauren telling max why would she even bother telling him about her possible resignation. floyd saying there is we. new amsterdam family is tearing at the seams my god. welp. until next Tuesday."

Meanwhile, there was one segment of fans who felt that Lauren was indeed leaving the hospital. One of the major storylines in the midseason finale of 'New Amsterdam' Season 4 was the fractured relationship between Dr Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) and Dr Leyla Shinwari (Shiva Kalaiselvan) after the latter finds out that Lauren's donation (which she construes as a bribe) was responsible for getting her the fifth slot as a resident doctor. This leads to differences between the two even as Lauren's attempts to explain go futile.

Will Lauren resign from 'New Amsterdam'? We'll know more when the NBC med drama returns next Tuesday at 10 pm ET.
