Love is in the air for Dr Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) and her resident girlfriend, Leyla Shinwari (Shiva Kalaiselvan) in Season 4 of 'New Amsterdam'. The latter got a reminder of the badass doctor she used to be over the course of the episode and the incident that followed soon after saw Lauren just slip further in love with Leyla. 'Same As It Ever Was' showed the couple cozy up in the opening sequence and then share a steamy kiss midway through the episode prompting some major reactions from fans on social media.

The episode sees Lauren give Leyla a piece of her mind after she let another resident doctor call the shots while treating a patient. A stung Leyla soon sheds the mild approach and gives Lauren a look at her true abilities when she operates on a patient while disobeying the former's orders on using a certain method. And she backs up the big talk while getting the job done in record time. This later leads to the duo sharing a romantic moment where they kiss in the supply closet.
