'New Amsterdam' Season 3 Episode 8: Will Dr Kapoor make a comeback? Fans say even guest appearance is enough
Dr Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) was in for a shock on the last episode of 'New Amsterdam' when he discovered that his best friend Dr Vijay Kapoor (Anupam Kher) has resigned from 'New Amsterdam'. Dr Iggy wasn't the only one feeling blindsided. Fans also couldn't believe that they wouldn't get to see Dr Kapoor anymore. Others are however hoping that Dr Kapoor's absence, even if it is an extended one, is only temporary.
One fan on YouTube said, "Oh God, I have missed Dr Kapoor every episode since he's been gone. I hope once everyone resolves within his personal life, he's back better than before!"

Another fan hoped to see Dr Kapoor, even if only for one more time, saying, "I hope we get to see Dr. Kapoor one more time, can't believe he resigned." Fans have also been sending in their sympathies for actor Anupam Kher, whose wife Kirron Kher, has recently been diagnosed with blood cancer. Fans admire his dedication to family. One fan tweeted, "I'm very sad about Vijay but it makes sense with Anupam Kher needing to be home right now. Another fan tweeted, "I loved his character and I’m sad that he won’t be returning (at least for a while), but I totally understand his decision and agree with it. You gotta take care of family especially in a time of need. I hope his wife has a safe and speedy recovery."

While there haven't been any updates from the show creators on whether Dr Kapoor will return, Dr Kapoor's storyline has been left open-ended enough that his return could still be a definite possibility. It all hinges on whether Dr Kapoor ever makes a full recovery from his Covid-19 complications, a recovery that has made him confident once again while practicing medicine. The show could also include Dr Kapoor in a mentoring role at the hospital, which we have to say would suit him well.
