Netflix's 'Mother of the Bride' dubbed 'hard to watch', fans throw shade over lack of chemistry in rom-com flick

Netflix's 'Mother of the Bride' is written by Robin Bernheim and stars Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove in pivotal roles

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's most recent romantic comedy movie, 'Mother of the Bride', has garnered mixed reactions, with many openly rejecting the film as awful, while Brooke Shield's acting abilities delight others.

The film, directed by Mark Waters, centers around Lana (Brooke Shields), who is startled to learn that her daughter Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) is getting married and will now concentrate on becoming an influencer rather than finishing her education.

However, things take another drastic turn when Lana discovers that the groom's father is none other than her ex-boyfriend Will (Benjamin Bratt), who broke up with her suddenly and left her devastated.

The seemingly tense relationship between Lana and Will deteriorates as the story goes on, despite their best efforts to be courteous.

Fans are delighted to spot familiar faces in 'Mother of the Bride'

People raced to X to talk about the movie as soon as it was out. Many fans complimented the film, noting how delighted they were to see familiar faces and appreciate the heartwarming plot.

A fan praised the movie and said, "Mother of the bride Netflix- its so good to see these faces again i can't stop smiling." 

Fans also praised Brooke Shields and said, "Watched Mother of the Bride tonight on Netflix and it was stupid cute. Brooke Shields can do no wrong. I really hope she keeps making and starring in these... and I need Ben Bratt in more romcom roles please." 

While another Brooke Shields fan commented, "Brooke Shields looks GREAT!" 

Fans also complimented Miranda Cosgrove's acting chops and said, "Finished mother of the bride. the only best part of the movie is Miranda for me. I knew the focus would be the adults. I just wasn't interested." 

"That mother of the bride movie on Netflix is so cute," said another fan. 

Meanwhile, another admirer encouraged fellow X users to watch the movie and said, "You guys have to watch Mother of the Bride on Netflix, it was sooo good!!!!"

Internet expresses frustration with 'Mother of the Bride'

Meanwhile, several X users had conflicting reactions to the movie, with many expressing frustration as well as disappointment over the acting and storyline of the rom-com flick.

Sharing the same opinion a fan said, "This Mother of the bride is quite an annoying film." 

One user, X, criticized the performance in the film and said, "Did acting get really bad or…? Watching the new Mother of the Bride."

Rating the movie a social media user commented, "Mother of the Bride, 1.5/5." 

"The new movie mother of the bride movie is hard to watch. It’s like y’all wanted to find people that had zero chemistry with each other. And I mean like everyone," said an annoyed X user.

Another evaluating the movie's storyline commented, "MOTHER OF THE BRIDE ...Wait. So he wasn't in a coma or something? He just ghosted her? And THEN said how was I supposed to explain when you went & changed your number? Justice for Lana! "

An X user said, "This new movie on Netflix keeps trying to say Brooke shields character hasn’t aged and i want them to stop."
