If you're a fan of the live-action zombie apocalypse show 'Daybreak' on Netflix that centers around high school kids, here's some bad news for you. Based on a comic by the same name from Brian Ralph, the story follows the students of Glendale High School as they embark on a troublesome adventure. While season one premiered on the streaming platform on October 24, 2019, there's news that the series has been canceled.

Breaking the news on Twitter, co-creator Aron Eli Coleite posted, "I don't even know how to say this, so we prepared a small statement. Love you all. Thank you!"

Addressed to Daybreakers, his statement read, "We learned last week that Daybreak will not be returning for a second season," Coleite wrote. "We're so sorry we couldn't share it with you sooner but also so grateful that we got to hang out in these last few live tweet sessions with all of you. Thank you for picking up what we put down, for running with all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways and for being such an important part of this show and our experience making it."

He added: "Here at Daybreak, we don't say we love you, we say 'you're a shit.' We say 'let's be monsters.' So be shits, be monsters, give 'em hell. Most importantly, keep being you. No one is as heartbroken as we are that we can't share more of this ride with you but we are so grateful to have gotten to bring it this far. Thank you for riding with us, for your voices, your enthusiasm, your memes, your fart jokes and your unashamed crazy. We'll see you out there."

Starring Colin Ford as the lead high school outcast, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Cody Kearsley, Jeanté Godlock, Gregory Kaysan, Krysta Rodriguez and Matthew Broderick, the series opened to mediocre reviews but did manage to create a good fan base.

The news left many of them heartbroken. "That's a real shame. You guys were telling a very fresh, different type of story & it's often difficult to find a big enough audience for that kind of thing right out of the gate, but damned if y'all didn't give it everything you could & produce something truly..." one viewer wrote and another said, "..worth treasuring for those of us it worked for. Glad no one compromised on your funky style to make it more marketable, but sad that those risks weren't appreciated. You gave us a really special crop of characters; I would have loved to see more, but I love what we did get."

"No! That’s so upsetting. I am so sorry that you don’t get to continue your stunning vision for the show and that we don’t get to enjoy it more. It was such a pleasure getting to discover the world of Daybreak and I’m really excited about what you will be involved in next," another tweet read.

The Netflix show joins a list of other such series such as 'Chambers', 'No Good Nick' and 'Designated Survivor' that were given the axe recently.
