Spoilers for Season 12 Episode 6 'If the Fates Allow'

On the latest Episode 6 of 'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 12, there's a new aspect in town and Hetty transferred the case from the DEA exclusively for Special Agent Callen. At first, nobody knows why Hetty would do that but a simple name reveal of the suspect caught for smuggling drugs across the border has Callen answering all of their questions about why the case needs to be assigned to him.

According to the official synopsis of the episode titled 'If the Fates Allow', "Before Christmas, Hetty assigns Callen the case of his former foster brother and his wife, who, upon reentry into the US, are framed for smuggling drugs across the border. Meanwhile, Deeks is struggling with losing his job at NCIS."

The suspect on tonight's episode, Raymond Lewis, as it turns out, is Agent Callen's brother from foster care. They were placed in the same foster home growing up until Raymond got into bad company and ended up going to jail because of something he and Callen were in together. Callen was hurt by a kid that Raymond beat up outside his house, thus getting arrested.

Ever since Callen was sent off to another foster home and he never heard of Raymond again but after growing up he believes he had taken care of things, Raymond wouldn't have gotten into trouble.

Life went on and Raymond was caught on border patrol with his wife Paula and bought into custody. The reason Raymond got into smuggling drugs is that his wife was sick and he wanted to be able to pay for her surgery. But Raymond was also being framed and once that was solved, the charges against him were dropped.

In the end, during their final chat, Raymond tells Callen that he is not mad at him because if things hadn't gone exactly the way it did, Raymond wouldn't be here "married to an angel", as he says.

'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 12 airs on Sundays at 8 pm on CBS.
