NBC's Chicago franchise all set to debut fresh faces as it loses old favorites when it returns this Fall

While there have been cast shake-ups announced for both Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire's list of cast regulars has been kept under wraps after its season 7 finale
PUBLISHED AUG 22, 2019

When NBC's One Chicago franchise returns to television on September 25, expect to see new faces across all three shows. While there have been cast shake-ups announced for both Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire's list of cast regulars has been kept under wraps after its season 7 finale left with a cliffhanger that implies anyone might be killed off.

Here's a look at who is joining Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med and the roles they are playing.

Chicago Fire

While both Jesse Spence and Taylor Kinney have signed contracts for season 8 and a potential season 9, we don't know about the other members of the Fire family. When season 7 ended, nearly every firefighter of Firehouse 51 was trapped inside a burning factory with a boiler that was on the verge of exploding. Hermann (David Eigenberg) and Ritter (Daniel Kyri) were the closest to the boiler as they tried to control it.

While we do know Casey (Spencer) and Severide (Kinney) will stick around for the next season, we do not know about the others. Hermann can be expected to stick around as well, as he along with Casey and Severide, is set to mentor a new firefighter.

Alberto Rosende, best known for playing Clary's best friend and vampire Simon on 'Shadowhunters', has been cast as Blake Gallo, according to Deadline. Gallo is a young firefighter new to Firehouse 51 and will be taken under the wings of Casey, Kinney, and Hermann who have been impressed by his relentless energy. Since Kyri's Ritter was near the about-to-explode boiler as the season ended, could that mean Ritter might be a casualty?

Additionally, a new paramedic is also set to join the crew, one who gives Anderson Cooper vibes but with a lesser IQ. Kara Killmer's Sylvie Brett is currently the most familiar paramedic of the crew after Monica Raymund's Gabby Dawson left in the Season 7 premiere. In the finale, Brett got engaged to Chaplain Kyle who is moving to Indiana. Will Brett move with him or will her life also be in danger following the finale?

Chicago P.D.

Longtime P.D. vet Jon Seda is leaving as Detective Antonio Dawson following the season 6 finale. Two new actors have been announced for season 7 of the show.

According to TVLine, Paul Adelstein will reprise his role of Interim Superintendent Jason Crawford in season 7 following the murder of Superintendent Brian Kelton played by John C. McGinley.

Adelstein is most famous for his role in 'Prison Break'. Additionally, Lisseth Chavez has been cast in the recurring role of Vanessa Rojas, according to Deadline. Rojas is a "street smart, gritty, resilient, fearless undercover cop". Chavez could potentially become a series regular.

Chicago Med

Following Chicago Med's shocking finale, where Ava (Norma Kuhling) confesses to overdosing Connor's (Colin Donnell) father with insulin leading to his death, Kuhling and Connell were announced as leaving the show. The actors will make a final appearance in the season 5 premiere to close their storylines.

However, a new character, Dr. Crockett Marcel, will be joining the Emergency Department. Deadline reported that Dominic Rains has been cast to play the role of Dr. Marcel. Dr. Marcel is from Louisiana and "gambles, drinks and parties all night but hooks himself to an IV drip in the morning to slide into work like a true badass".

Apart from the recurring faces, who have potential to become series regulars, fans would be hoping they would not be losing any more of their favorite characters from Dick Wolf's One Chicago franchise.
