'Modern Family' cast wraps up last day of filming with heartbreaking goodbyes: '11 years went by in a flash'
Get your tissues ready as we prepare to say goodbye to the 'Modern Family'. The cast and crew got together on February 21, the last day of filming, to wrap up the series finale after a 11-year run.
Some of the actors documented their last moments on the show and commemorated the bittersweet day with Instagram posts.
Steve Levitan, the show's co-creator, posted a heartwarming video of the entire cast and crew waving goodbye. He captioned it, "Today is our last day shooting #modernfamily. These are just some of the wonderful people who’ve made the last 11 seasons possible. I love them all."
Eric Stonestreet, who plays the beloved character of Cameron Tucker, shared an Instagram post of himself facing the exit of the set. He wrote, "I guess I’ll see myself out now stage 5. 11 years walking in and out of this door went by in a flash. #modernfamily."
Sofia Vergara who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the comedy series uploaded a video of the cast singing Green Day's 'Time of Your Life'. In the video, Vergara can be seen sobbing while Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland and Jesse Tyler Ferguson hold and comfort her. She captioned the video, "What a day!! Saying goodbye to our Modern Family."
Her husband Joe Manganiello also bid his goodbye and congratulated the cast saying, "CONGRATULATIONS Modern Family on 11 years of groundbreaking television." He added a caption to the photo of the cast taking a selfie in the Dunphy house. "There may never be another show with a run like this and a cast this talented. You will be missed. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Gloria," he wrote.
Eight-year-old Jeremy Maguire, who plays Joe Prichett, shared numerous behind-the-scenes pictures after the finale shoot, including shots with Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez and Ariel Winter.
The 'Modern Family' series finale airs in April.
