'Mimicus': Enhypen's Sunghoon goes viral for acting debut, fans say 'we want more'

While most K-pop idols are all-rounders, Enhypen fans get to flex on a different level as we have member Sunghoon who isn’t just an idol but also an MC, figure skater and now an actor. Days after he disappointed fans by sharing he would not be filming figure skating content anymore, he made his acting debut in the K-drama ‘Mimicus’. Fans were excited when Playlist announced their next original drama 'Mimicus' starring idol actors like B.A.P’s Youngjae, ex-IZ*ONE’s Yuri, woo!ah’s Nana and more.

‘Mimicus’ is a K-drama that the gen-z audience is finding relatable as it follows a couple of high school students who want to stand out to stay popular. Apart from the idol actors making up the cast, K-pop fans also find the premise interesting as the high school is a hot spot for teen celebrities finding popularity through social media like TikTok and YouTube. The first episode aired on July 22 on Viki and Naver Now. Well, for episode 2, we got a special cameo of Enhypen’s Sunghoon who plays the star student ‘Sunghoon’ who is interviewed by the media.

Sunghoon makes acting debut

Enhypen fans loved that Sunghoon’s cameo was of him playing himself as the show introduced him as the ‘Figure Skating Prince’. We see the idol waving and throwing finger hearts at his fans and answering questions. One of the reporters gets an alert that a CEO’s son, Ji Soo-bin is also enrolling in the same university and asks Sunghoon about it. He shares, “I heard about the news a lot, so I'm also curious about it, I look forward to the fact that you got to be enrolled into the school. I wish you guys get to enjoy the school life and I hope we get to meet as well. Thank you.” 

One of the male lead actors Kim Yoon-woo plays Ji Soo-bin who Sunghoon mentioned. The drama also has the OST (original soundtrack) ‘I need the light’ sung by Enhypen. Meanwhile, even their viral single ‘Polaroid Love’ was played in one of the scenes of ‘Mimicus’ episode 2 while the students do the TikTok challenge. Knetizens praised Sunghoon’s acting debut while fans shared their excitement over more acting projects for the K-pop idol.

One fan tweeted, “Nobody doing it like park sunghoon for real.” Another shared, “The way he threw a little finger heart for the camera is so park sunghoon.” One fan commented, “Our actor idol sunghoon look so good!!” Another said, “Every time someone talks ill about sunghoon, he always get a new job. actor hoon is coming real soon yall!!” One fan wrote, “Kdrama industry we want more actor sunghoon.” Another added, “Hoon never experienced unemployment from being a figure skater, idol, dancer, vocalist, rapper, model, brand ambassador, MC, and now an actor,, not everyone can say they can do absolutely everything but you know who can? PARK SUNGHOON.”
