LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Addams Family' is epic for many reasons, one of which is the peculiar family that seems to be in unison. In the new Netflix adaptation of the franchise, which relies solely on 'Wednesday' Addams played by Jenna Ortega, there's not much of the rest of the family to be seen. The highly rated series, which is doing very well on the streaming service, has only missed one thing, which showrunner Miles Millar says will be made up for in the next season by giving the rest of the Addams family a fair share of screen time.

The Netflix series stars Jenna Ortega in the lead role. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Fred Armisen, and Christina Ricci appear in supporting roles. The series, based on Charles Addams, was half-directed by Tim Burton, who also serves as executive producer and was previously involved in two projects related to the Addams Family: the 1991 film, which he stopped making, and an aborted stop-motion animated film. However, read on to find out what Miles Millar has to say about the diminished screen time of the rest of the family.

Since viewers have noticed that the rest of the family, played by Zeta-Jones, Guzman, Armisen, and Ordonez, have had very little screen time, co-showrunner Miles Millar says that 'Wednesday's family could be featured more in a second season.

In an interview with TV Line, Millar said, "We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles.” He continued, "Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between 'Wednesday' and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that 'Wednesday' is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Even though the Netflix series, 'Wednesday' has not been renewed by the streaming service for a new season yet, Millar says that they “definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.”

The coming-of-age supernatural comedy horror television series was released on Netflix on November 23, 2022, to generally positive reviews by critics, who praised Ortega's performance but criticized it for its similarities to CW dramas.

All episodes of 'Wednesday' Season 1 are now available on Netflix.
