Miesha Theresa Tate is a mixed martial artist. On August 18, 1986, she was born in Tacoma to Michelle Tate and Robert Schmidt. She attended Franklin Pierce High School, and began participating in amateur wrestling. She was a part of the boys' team from her freshman year to graduation. She competed in the girls' state championship during her senior year and won. She later attended Central Washington University, where she was encouraged to pursue mixed martial arts by a friend. Tate is a former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion, and as of December 20, 2021, she ranks 8 in the UFC women's bantamweight.
