Met Gala 2022: NCT Johnny to attend, fans excited for his look: ‘It’ll be revolutionary’

Met Gala is one of the most fashionable and star-studded events in New York as the best of the best get together for a charity gala by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It has become an opportunity for the guests to show off their extravagant outfits planned months ahead as they walk the red carpet of the benefit. In 2021, CL and Blackpink’s Rosé became the first female K-pop idols to attend and this year once again, we have K-pop idols on the guestlist like NCT’s Johnny Suh.

K-pop truly has gone global as we first had PSY becoming the first K-pop idol ever to attend the Met Gala in 2013 along with Super Junior’s Siwon who became the first group member to do so. They were followed by EXO’s Lay and Rain with NCT’s Johnny becoming the fifth male K-pop idol to attend the Met Gala in 2022. Fans were first shocked when Johnny suddenly landed in New York at the end of April which led many to think whether he would indeed be attending the fashion event.

Johnny to attend the Met Gala

Well, on May 2, just hours before the Met Gala, it has been reported that Johnny Suh is the first NCT member to attend the benefit. News reports started circulating that Johnny was in the US for the Met Gala which is why he was currently in New York where the event is held. Insiders are excited about Johnny’s appearance on the red carpet as the self-proclaimed fashionista has often been applauded for his taste and fashionable outfits. In fact, the NCT star has a YouTube segment titled ‘JCC’ where we get ‘Johnny’s Fashion Evaluation’.

He has also often shown an interest in fashion from tailoring his own suit and doing nail art to going behind the scenes to see how NCT’s stage outfits are made. At the same time, Johnny has also personally confirmed that he will be attending the Met Gala. While taking a stroll in New York, the paparazzi filmed him while one of the reporters said, “Enjoy the Met Gala, man.” In response, Johnny smiled and said, “Thank you.”

With Johnny himself confirming, fans are now ecstatic and have taken to trending him on Twitter. One NCTzen tweeted, “No more clowning johfam! our fashion evaluator is officially attending the Met Gala along with other big fashion icons. I couldn't be prouder.” One fan was proud, “Yuta is a movie star. Winwin is in his bag. Taeyong is booked and busy. Johnny is going to the MET Gala. Jaehyun’s drama might see the light of day. Another fan joked, “Remember when hendery went to last year’s met gala.” One fan added, “Johnny in Met Gala 2022.” One added, “OMG JOHNNY FASHION MOMENT INCOMING.” Another NCTzen commented, “The world needs a Johnny Fashion Evaluation jcc from the met gala red carpet.” One fan was sure about his outfit, “It's johnny so IT WILL BE REVOLUTIONARY.” 

An NCTzen shared, "Johnny Suh be like:." Another made a reaction meme, "This how Johnny sleeping tonight."
