'MasterChef: Generations': Kamay Lafalaise earns 'top dish' tag for traditional Haitian dish with modern twist
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 contestant Kamay Lafalaise represented Millennials in the culinary competition and impressed the Fox show judges with her top dish. During the Mystery box challenge, the judges tasted the top contender's dish first and it was none other than Kamay.
She served Crispy Chicken Thigh with Haitian Red Bean Sauce, White Rice and Pickled Fresno Chilis & Red Onions. She gave a modern twist to her traditional Haitian dish by adding new elements to the food and ditching traditional stewing. The presentation of the dish was quite appealing.
She elevated her dish with the topping and the rice flour in the coating of the chicken. However, Joe Bastianich was not convinced that Kamay's dish would nail the flavor. However, the Fox show judge was notably intrigued by Kamay's Haitian dish before warning her, "Someone is going home tonight, make sure it's not you!"
'MasterChef: Generations' judges dub Kamay Lafalaise's dish 'magical'
'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 judges Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez, and Joe Bastianich seemed to really like Kamay Lafalaise's Haitian dish. Gordon suggested it looked delicious and the crispiness of the chicken was "second to none."
Gordon further noted, "It's browned beautifully. Good job. It's cooked great. Definitely elevated." Meanwhile, Aarón loved how bold Kamay was with the Haitian seasoning. However, the judge added that the Fox show contestant "could've done more with the rice." Joe noted, "It is amazing. It’s magical. Good job."
Did 'MasterChef: Generations' star Kamay Lafalaise earn the immunity pin?
'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 contestant Kamay Lafalaise wanted to earn the immunity pin for Millennials and her survival during the Mystery challenge. She claimed that it was her goal every time she stepped into the MasterChef kitchen. Although Kamay's delicious Haitian dish saved her from elimination, she failed to earn the immunity pin.
Rebecka Evans notably bagged the first immunity pin of season 14 with her 'exotic meatloaf'. She notably saved the Boomer generation from elimination with her Blackberry Hoisin Meatloaf with Bok Choy in Sesame Oil and Gochugaru Potato Spear. Gordon Ramsay loved the plating of a meatloaf. Joe admitted he hates meatloaf and hasn't eaten it since he watched "The Brady Bunch" but Rebecka's dish was delicious.
'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 airs every Wednesday at 8 pm ET on Fox.
