'MasterChef: Generations' star Si Envytnc faces elimination for his 'dishwater' soup
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 contestant Si Envytnc Nguyen was recently eliminated from the culinary competition during the Mystery Box challenge. Despite attempting a sophisticated dish, he failed to impress the judges of the Fox show.
Si served Vietnamese Sweet & Sour Soup with Lobster, Scallion Puree, Yuzu & Coconut Milk Broth, and Rice to the judges. The rice looked pretty, but it was very "out there" and overcooked.
The broth rescued the dish's flavor. Si's dish was notably ruined by too many ideas to make it aesthetic. However, Aaron Sánchez warned Si that a super fancy dish would not impress the judges adding, "We are not that easy to fool."
However, the presentation took an odd turn when the judges mixed the soup with the rice. Gordon Ramsay delivered a scathing critique, likening Si's dish to "dishwater." Si found himself among the bottom three dishes, with the judges noting that he prioritized plating over flavors.

The judges of 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 were unimpressed with Si Envytnc Nguyen's dish, criticizing both its appearance and flavors. Gordon Ramsay said, "It looks like dishwater. It's not something you want to eat visually." However, he later claimed broth was exceptional. Aarón Sánchez noted that Si failed to harness the concept of the dish and it was not delicious.
Joe Bastianich told Si, "You took probably some good techniques and ideas and flavors in your mind as a child's eye and then you wound up ruining it." The judges later discussed that there was "no balance in lobster" and it was overcooked. They also agreed that the dish was "confusing". Joe noted, "It's like he had the ambition of a finale dish and it just fell apart."
