LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Third time seems to have proved the charm for 'Magic Mike's Last Dance'. As the trilogy comes to an end, Channing Tatum's production is set to hit all highs by doing a great job at the box office. 'Magic Mike's Last Dance' released on February 10, and the despite the reviews being not entirely favorable, the movie seems to be on its way to a sound box office collection.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, known for his work in 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Ocean's Twelve', 'Magic Mike's Last Dance' is produced by Channing Tatum, who has also starred in the film. The movie is loosely based on his past experiences as a young male stripper in Florida. The third installment is set in a post-pandemic world and sees the protagonist losing everything and joining hands with a wealthy socialite to help with a play, bringing him back to his roots.

'Magic Mike 3' leads the Box Office

'Magic Mike's Last Dance' was initially supposed to be an HBO Max release, but Warner Bros eventually opted for a silver screen release instead. The move has proved a game-changer, as the film is expected to top its opening box office weekend, despite the poor reviews and a paltry 46 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, according to Deadline. It raked in over $4.1 million on Friday and is predicted to close the weekend with a whopping $8.2 million.

The grand opening will mark a sweet first for the franchise. The first 'Magic Mike' finished in second place behind Seth MacFarlane's 'Ted', while the second part scored fourth place behind 'Inside Out', 'Jurassic World' and 'Terminator Genisys'. That said, the collection pales in comparison with its predecessors. The first part of the trilogy brought in over $39 million, while 'Magic Mike XXL' collected $27.9 million.

Lucky January

While the film's strong start doesn't exactly throw in a surprise, it is indeed remarkable that it came out on top. In fact, January saw promising box office collections across genres. It marked the continuation of 2022's box office reawakening, with holdover 'Avatar: The Way of Water' continuing to dominate the silver screens from its December release, currently having collected $2.181 billion worldwide, which meant 'Magic Mike's Last Dance' had its task cut out for itself. We hope Warner Bros takes more of their projects to the silver screen as it clearly seems to pay off.
