'Love Alarm' Season 2: How Kim So-hyun transitioned from child actor to romance star without even dating
Kim So-hyun is currently one of the most popular young actors in the world of Korean drama. Besides the upcoming season 2 of 'Love Alarm', the actor is also the lead star in the KBS period drama 'River Where the Moon Rises', whose male lead, actor Ji Soo, had been accused of bullying and sexual harassment.
While 'River Where the Moon Rises' is mired in controversy, Kim So-hyun can look forward to Season 2 of 'Love Alarm' since it is one of the most popular Korean Netflix originals to have released. In the upcoming season, we will know who will end up with So-hyun's character Jo-jo between the two male leads, Song Kang and Jung Ga-run. The release of the trailer and the teaser for the show's new episodes has already piqued audiences' interest.
Here's a look at the rise of Kim So-hyun from a child actor to a star
Kim So-hyun's first role as a child actor was in a 2007 show titled 'Que Sera Sera'. Some of her memorable performances as a child actor were in shows such as 'The Moon Embracing the Sun', 'I can hear your voice', 'Reset', and 'Rooftop Prince'. When she grew older, she began playing the role of a high school girl in many shows including 'Who Are You: School 2015', 'Nightmare High', 'Bring it on, Ghost', 'While You Were Sleeping' and most recently, the first season of 'Love Alarm' as well.
The actor's phase as a high school student helped her cement her position as a promising young actor. She also managed to secure roles in historical dramas like 'Goblin' in which she played a memorable cameo as the Queen who was shot down by her own husband, the King, followed by 'The Emperor: Owner of the Mask' and 'The Tale of Nokdu'.
Her role in the ongoing show 'River Where the Moon Rises' is her most promising one to date. However, her period drama roles haven't distracted the actor from pursuing other genres, and 'Love Alarm' is proof of that.
Before this, she also starred in 'Radio Romance', which was not excellent but her bright performance was noted by critics. Since So-hyun debuted as a 7-year-old, she has acted in 40 different projects. Despite being able to play romantic roles with ease, the actor has never been in a relationship.
Speaking about the same, she said, "I had no interest in the opposite sex. There were a lot of people around me who were dating, but I didn’t really have that." She also explained that she watches other dramas to understand the nuances of her role and to settle into each of them. She also shared how she had successfully transitioned and said, "I think the viewers felt comfortable since I approached them naturally without any calculations. I also get answers through trial and error.”
'Love Alarm' Season 2 is set to start streaming on Netflix from March 12
