'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power': Amazon show to launch with 2 episodes, premiere date pushed up
If you are one of those who have been eagerly waiting to see Amazon’s ‘The Rings of Power’ series, then we have some good news for you. The studio has finally released the schedule for the upcoming fantasy series and fans of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ will be able to see the Second Age of Middle Earth a day earlier than expected. Yes, you heard it right.
Amazon earlier announced that the series will be premiering exclusively on its streaming platform on Friday, September 2 at 9 pm EST. However, according to the newly released schedule, the series will now debut on Thursday, September 1 at 9 pm EST, and to make fans even more exciting, the series will now be premiering two episodes in the first week of its launch. Meanwhile, all the new episodes will be making their way to Amazon Prime Video at 12 am EST until the season finale.

The streaming platform also announced the finale of Season 1 will be released on Friday, August 14.
“The episodes will launch at the same time around the world so that all fans can experience them simultaneously,” Amazon said in a statement.
By debuting with two episodes, ‘The Rings of Power’ will be avoiding a major showdown with ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon’. If the Amazon series would have continued with one episode per week, then it would have aired its finale on October 21, which is just 2 days before the season finale of HBO’s upcoming fantasy series. This seems to be a wise decision by Amazon because they would want viewers to see the finale in big numbers and this strategy could help them do that.
Set thousands of years ago before the events of Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, ‘The Rings of Power’ primarily focuses on the Second Age of the Middle-Earth when things were relatively peaceful following the defeat of Morgoth, who was Sauron’s master. However, Sauron is now gaining strength and has the power of shape-shifting. The show explores Middle Earth’s Second Age, which includes the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the story of the island kingdom of Numenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.
The new setting is pretty exciting and will give viewers a chance to get to know more about new characters and new storylines.
The series features Morfydd Clark as Galadriel and Maxim Baldry as Isildur. Other actors to feature on the show include Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Miriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Nazanin Boniadi (Bronwyn), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Arondir), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Markella Kavenagh (Elanor) and more.
