'Lethal Weapon': Cole finds himself in a complicated position as the show returns after fall break

'Lethal Weapon' returns after its fall break next week and it looks like there's going to be some love in the air! Love of Cole's life, Natalie, is getting married to Andrew and things clearly don't go according to plan. Episode 10, 'There Will Be Bud' features not one but two love interests for our boy Wesley Cole.

It is the 50th episode for the show which will also be airing on its all-new timeslot. So it remains to be seen how that will work out for the makers. The date of the return itself could possibly spell disaster for its ratings since, generally, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve has low ratings on all networks.

Which is the reason why most shows take a fall break in the first place. Hopefully, this special episode won't get lost in the flurry of holiday celebrations.

The promo for the next episode shows Natalie in a wedding dress getting married to Andrew as Cole barges in dramatically and announces that he cannot let her go ahead with the wedding. There's no explanation as to why he does that — does he think Andrew is not who he says he is? Maybe.

The official synopsis doesn't confirm whether this disruption means anything to Natalie but it does tell us that Cole's got a rebound and his new romantic interest's name is Julie. Played by actress Hayley Strode, the identity of this character is being kept under wraps but she may be related to the force after all as Cole finds out later that she's related to Assistant District Attorney Erica Mallick.

Now, if you remember, Erica had guest starred a couple of episodes ago on the show and Cole and she had some sweet and romantic moments. She did seem to like him a bit but, at the time, Cole was super caught-up with Natalie and his feelings for her. Infact, he managed to lose Erica's witness because of how distracted he was with the whole thing. Irrespective of his blunders, Erica had forgiven him and we know there's a tiny spot in the ADA's heart for our ex-CIA agent. Imagine the awkwardness when he's dating someone she knows after blowing her off.

As for Murtaugh, he finds himself on the fence about one of Trish's high profile clients. He thinks that the murder that he's investigating could be related to the high-profile lawsuit she's working on with none other than the famous Leo Getz. He hasn't made an appearance this season since his stint in episode 3 'Leo Getz Justice'. It's always fun when Leo is around — but there's also trouble lurking right around the corner.

'Lethal Weapon' returns on Tuesday, January 1 at 8/7c on Fox.
