'Lethal Weapon' season 3, episode 11: Is Erica and Cole's kiss a sign the show is looking to end its run on a high note?

The creators of 'Lethal Weapon' have finally listened to our predictions. Wesley Cole has been bestowed with some love in his life finally and from the looks of it, it is definitely set to last.

The latest episode for the third season of the buddy cop drama was not only well played and action-packed but was also well written and absolutely hilarious. However, that isn't even the best part — for the first time ever, someone other than Roger Murtaugh has found real love on the show. Episode 11 was a turning point for Cole's storyline and it definitely showed us that 'Lethal Weapon' has not lost its charm.

The Murtaughs go for a vacation this week and as usual, Murtaugh just cannot take a day off. Even less surprising — he is in denial about it. He somehow ends up injuring his back and is left by himself when he stumbles upon a possible kidnapping and assassination attempt. As for Cole, he finds a body that leads him to suspect that there could be a possible attack on Senator Malick, who is also Erica's mom. Trouble really starts brewing when the two realize that both cases have a common goal — to off the Senator and stop her from presenting her environment bill.

Quite surprisingly, Cole makes the first move with Erica and she backs off at first. However, by the end of the episode, she comes around. He even pulls off a grand gesture — in the elevator with her mother with an assassin on the hunt, he lists his likes and dislikes and what he wants from the relationship, in true Wesley Cole style. He then proceeds to save her mum's life in an epic elevator battle and the fate of their relationship is sealed — in the best way possible. Also, Julie seems to be out of the picture for now — but if you remember, she was really into him in the last episode so there could be trouble when Erica finally tells her that she's dating Cole. They are roommates after all — she can't keep it a secret for too long.

Erica is perfect for Cole in more ways than we can count, and this relationship is definitely a great arc to Wesley Cole's short history on the show. However, it does also make us wonder if this is a way for the show to tie up loose ends. The future of 'Lethal Weapon' is definitely in limbo, so is this one of the ways for the show to slowly close off its story? For two whole seasons, the show didn't write in a great love story for former lead Martin Riggs and here we are midway through the season, watching Cole have a wholesome love life.

The two will probably keep it casual for a while, but knowing Cole and his baggage with Natalie, it will not be surprising if the two decide to take things on a more deeper level, very soon. Keep your eyes peeled for this love story to take wings in the next episode.

'Lethal Weapon', episode 12 airs on Tuesday, January 15 at 8 pm ET/PT on FOX.
