'Lethal Weapon': Here's why Cole should totally date ADA Erica Mallick

We all remember Wesley Cole's Earth-shattering heartbreak in the previous episodes — Natalie kissed him and then dumped him for Andrew. What's worse, she marries him. Cole looked like he may never recover as 'Lethal Weapon' cemented the belief in our hearts that no one other than Murtaugh would ever find love. However, with the upcoming episode, things may finally be changing and it may all be because of Assistant District Attorney Erica Mallick.

Cole hasn't had the most luck when it comes to love. Even though he uprooted his life on the force just so he could be close to his daughter Maya and ex Natalie, this guy just won't catch a break. It is understandable why he won't just date anyone — he needs someone who understands his baggage and has the emotional stability he so desperately needs. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why his kiss with Layla Khudari in episode five, 'Get the Picture', remained just that. With what we know about Erica's backstory, it doesn't take a genius to see that these two are meant to be together.

Erica Mallick is not only successful, hardworking and smart — she's also very patient. To be with someone like Cole, you'd have to have lots of it considering how stupid he can be sometimes.

Remember when he lost her important witness because he was fussing over breadsticks at the hotel lobby? For someone who's ex-CIA Cole does have his dumb moments. Erica also saw him at his worst and still thought he was a pretty stand up guy — what more does Cole need, really?

When Andrew confronted Cole about the kiss with Natalie, she ended up overhearing and seeing the whole thing in the video conference room. Had it been anyone else, the first thing they'd do is wonder why he was in the situation in the first place — however, she didn't. She simply empathized with the situation and gave him a much-needed pep talk.

One of the reasons why Erica is perfect for Cole is that she's a workaholic just like him plus she works with law enforcement. If the two get together, she would totally get his long hours and dangerous ploys. Moreover, she's a sucker for the rules and maybe, it would help Cole tone down his antics a little. This relationship could give Cole a much-needed balance in life. It's just how different they are that could make them so compatible.

Erica's mission in life is to prove to the world that she is where she is because of her perseverance and not her mother. As for Cole, all he wants to do is make up for the lost time with his family. She was raised in a rich, influential family while Cole comes from next to nothing.

They are so different, yet they have a spark of familiarity — they both know what it means to struggle to not disappoint their loved ones. We don't know about Erica for sure, but we wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming episodes do show us that her mother thinks she is never good enough.

If Cole and Erica do get together, it will not only give him a chance at a new life but it will also help him realize that he doesn't really want to be with Natalie anymore — simply because she's moved on. So has he, even though he doesn't know it yet. She loved him a long time ago and it honestly feels like Cole is holding on to the dream of Bali never once seeing that its long gone. Can we please move over the awkwardness and get them together please, 'Lethal Weapon'?
