'Legacies' Season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer, and all you need to know about Hope Mikaelson's journey forward
'Legacies', CW's spin-off of 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals', soared to immediate success with its Harry Potter-esque school for the gifted children setting where our protagonist, Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), tries to defeat the evil.
Now, fans will be thrilled to know that the long-greenlit season is not all that far away.
So, before questions about whether Hope and Landon find their way back to each other fog your mind, here's all you need to know about the upcoming season 2 of 'Legacies'.
Release date:
'Legacies' Season 2 is arriving this October 10 at 9 pm only on The CW.
Plot:
According to the official synopsis of the show, 'Legacies' follows Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, who is descended from some of the most powerful vampire, werewolf, and witch bloodlines. Two years after the events of 'The Originals', 17-year-old Hope attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
Hope is a tribrid, as she was born to the original hybrid, Klaus, and the werewolf Hayley, and since she comes from a lineage of witches, she possesses magical abilities too.
After she meets people like herself in the Salvator school, Hope finds love in Landon Kirby but, at the end of season 1, she sacrifices herself to protect him and the rest of the school.
As of now, following the events of the finale, Hope has vanished but, to nobody's knowledge, she is alive.
Russell, who plays the role, has also teased that season 2 will hold a love triangle involving Hope and Landon which will be particularly heartbreaking for her.
Creator:
The show comes from Julie Plec, who was the creator of its parent shows 'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals'. The parent shows come from the original 'The Vampire Diaries' books by LJ Smith, and follow the same characters.
Cast:
Without doubt, most of the main cast is expected to return for the second season.
Russell will reprise her role as Hope, and Aria Shahghasemi will return as her love interest, Landon.
'The Vampire Diaries' and 'The Originals' star Matt Davis, who reprised his role of Alaric Saltzman in season 1, is expected to return too, with Kaylee Bryant as Josie, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as Milton 'MG' Greasley, and Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael Waithe.
According to an interview with TV Guide, Plec told the outlet, "We're really excited about a new character that we're introducing. We really want to bring in an old, old, old-world vampire. We made the rule for our school that the vampires who go to our school actually need to be teenagers... not hundreds of years [old] because then you get into some creepy math. But we want to introduce a vampire who kind of got desiccated when he was 17 in maybe the 15th century and now wakes up in the 21st century and realizes that all the rules of being a vampire have changed and that he does not fit into this very modern world."
It has also been teased that certain fan-favorite characters from the parent shows could make an appearance too!
